Weird Amazon Search Suggestions
Ask a Question
Does anyone else get weird Amazon suggestions after entering search words? or is it just me????.... to me it happens quite often... so today I entered "teething toys for baby" and on 3rd page there was "kegel weighted exercise balls - pelvic floor tightening..." do you supposed to give them kegel balls for the baby to chew before or after using it for pelvic excercise??? it just made me chuckle
Those "weird results" are because they're based on things you might also need if you're searching for a particular thing. So those who are searching for "teething toys" are likely to have had a baby some months before so might be interested in excercise balls for pelvic floor tightening.
Clever when you think about it.
davidstockport kinda... but still. It doesnt make me think "oh I'll get the kegel balls too" or instead of teething toys...when I search for something I search for specific thing. And that thing only. I was searching for coats and there were some leggings there too?! To me its annoying.. because I only want to see what I searched for. For example them coats were not only the ones my size but 3-4 sizes smaller which they dont have in my size... so for me there's no use with tiny coat which I want to wear now not next year
BlueOrchid Before I got a good ad-blocker on my computer - I did an experiment - I googled "breast pump" within minutes I was getting adverts from numerous different sources, for everything from nappies to anything connected to babies. Big Brother is everywhere - watching us,
I tried looking for a book for my daughter when she was a toddler and found **** on Amazon
True story not excuse
I find Amazon search complete garbage. If you just search for relevant results it prioritises high end and sponsored items and if you change to lowest price first you get a load of nonsense products that often don't include the search terms you included but are sort of vaguely relevant.
Most of my Amazon purchases are Amazon warehouse which at least has decent search results as well as being cheaper.
Ebay also annoys me in that many responses give a range of prices for the item. I'd like to just search for single price listings but as far as I know ebay doesn't allow you to do that. If I search for a specific item I keep getting something like ยฃ20-150 when the actual item I want is lets say ยฃ50 in that price band but of course I just want to know the ยฃ50.
I guess ebay and Amazon are setup to try to prevent you from always searching for the cheapest price for each item which forces you to spend more time searching for them which is why I guess sites like Latestdeals and hotukdeals are so good as others have found the deals that aren't always obvious due to the way these sites control searches.
