Wetherspoon pubs ban parents from buying more than two alcoholic drinks if they’re with their kids
PARENTS can be banned from buying more than two alcoholic drinks in Wetherspoon pubs if they are with their children, it has emerged.
The nationwide policy came to light when a poster was put up at the Robert Pocock pub in Gravesend, Kent following an incident of "unruly behaviour".

There's nothing NEW about this it has been happening for many years. There's no loss to JDWs... soft drinks have a much higher profit margin. (a several hundred percent mark up).
Of course it was The SUN (they think that SUN is News spelt backwards) who made this revelation.

They'll be telling us next that many Wetherspoon's pubs use CCTV to invade customers privacy in both ladies and gents toilets (as though that's NEW too).
davidstockport I haven't ever been in a Wetherspoons and this wouldn't apply to me on so many levels. I thought they were trying to say that although it has been in place, it was rarely enforced before. 
tumblespots It has been enforced (I've seen many complaints) I have not been in a Wetherspoons since Feb 2015 when I saw the state of the kitchen in a local one... it was filthier than mine 
davidstockport I think we would all be shocked at the lack of cleanliness in many restaurant kitchens!! 
tumblespots I suspect many health and hygiene inspectors have palms that are greasier than the floors of some kitchens they inspect
I think this is great i hate seeing parents out drinking with their kids when they have clearly had too much already. I never drink in front of my kids. What if they was an emergency and you needed to drive them to hospital 
That was our opinion and we had other considerations too as Mr T's parents were elderly, if we had been drinking we couldn't have spent all those happy hours in A&E! Sometimes in life you make sacrifices for the benefit others and your own peace of mind.
I'm well out of the loop, my phone isn't even on the internet so I didn't know you could order drinks through it?!
Seems a very sensible policy if you are looking after children you need to have your wits about you. Surprised it isn't the same for every restaurant and public house etc. People are always complaining about their freedom being eroded but sometimes you have to have rules because people are just too stupid to act responsibly themselves. I'm a fairly frequent user of Wetherspoons but more for meals and hot drinks that alcohol. In fact perhaps for the 100s of times I've been to a wetherspoons I think I've only had an alcoholic drink once or twice when I didn't have to drive afterwards. I don't see a huge amount of children in wetherspoons and when I do see them I think from memory it is very young children pre-nursery age or older teenagers mostly.
I haven't ever been there myself so I can't really comment. But I agree that parents should be in a fit state to look after their children.
