Whats Your Christmas Decoration Theme This Year?
Ask a Question
I generally change my Christmas decorations theme/colours every year. I canβt help myself! I stroll through Instagram and Pinterest and start planning in the summer. This year I found a tree on a youtubers page from last year and i just have to have it! Lol
What themes or colours are you all going for this year?
We don't have a theme our kids help decide what goes up we buy new after Christmas for next year. Got enough expense with their wishlist
It's a multi colour theme and whatever comes out of the box from last year that isn't broken. If the tree looks bare I might buy some new ones.
Will be going away most of December so not decorating the home but will be helping to decorate my daughters pub before we go away.
I used to love decorating the pub I managed. Stapling lots of baubles on the ceiling was hard work but looked fab!
I use the old decorations Iβve had for years - some are from old family and friends that are no longer with us so they hold a lot of memories too. It makes it more special, I think. It looks a bit mismatched but it doesnβt bother me.
I'm going all out this year. Blush pink with a hint of silver. Glittery fern leaves, feathers the lot. My husband will have a fit
We don't have a theme. This is the first year we are decorating for Christmas and our theme will be whatever decorations my mum gives me that she no longer wants!
Annoyingly and I do truly love my wife she has OCD for colour coordination but if it was me I just go up the loft , bring down literally everything and it all goes up and I as happy as a kid the night before Christmas .
The more colour the better and the more lights . I just love going OTT .
stuartsmith544 I bet there are many who can relate to this, my hubby included. Iβm with your wife on this one. Lol
What do you do with all your baubles and decorations if you change your theme every year?
As cocolgooh said, we have decorations that were my parents, some that were bought when my children were born, some we bought on travels around the world. They all have memories and significance. That is what makes my tree special to me.
gerrykelly25 Thats really sweet. Unfortunately, Iβve never had any Christmas decorations handed down so itβs never been very sentimental to me. I generally take them to a charity shop or put on Facebook marketplace. I have a 3 trees so this year Iβm moving one colour to a different room and the base colour for the main tree is gold again so itβs just the βaccentβ colour Iβm changing. Not as dramatic as I probably made it sound.
Leesha86 I had visions of your attic looking like a grotto with discarded baubles!!
Im very particular about our decor. Our theme for the last few years has been a winter woodland / scandi /nordic style. We have a frosted tree. Consisting mainly of white / greys & wood textures/colours. Iv gradually picked up pieces over the years. I dont like tinsel or coloured lights at all.
Glitterandgold same!!! No tinsel or coloured lights at all. I use picks and ribbon for filler. My upstairs tree this year sound very similar to yours.
This is my inspiration pic for my downstairs tree, I canβt wait.
Leesha86 I love that. You will have to post a pic when it's up . My tree is very similar to that, tho looks a bit more like this
Gone for a dusky pink colour this year. Donβt usually change colours but fancied a new colour!
Will pop the old decorations on too but not all of them.
We use the same decorations every year. Can't afford to buy new every year, and it better on the environment to reuse.
Last years Tree evenually had enough and resigned so Im on a look out of a new tree this year. Something not too big and bulky as I'm not well enough to be standing long these days. If anyone sees a good deal on a slim but not skinny 5ft tree green could you give me a shout please?
I use the same stuff as every other Christmas! The idea of buying a new theme each year seems very wasteful. If everyone bought new, how much plastic cr@p is being produced and discarded?
Oh heck, Iβve turned into Scrooge.
I absolutely love Christmas I go all out put decorations up all over the house inside and outside I always do a different colour each year on my tree and dining table my loft is full of Christmas decorations I always write the colour on each box so I know what iam bringing down I can't wait I have a 6 foot santa and 5 foot dachshund dog and loads more for outside iam a sad person
I really fancied some smart tree lights this year, just because I like the idea of controlling them via my phone.
However, for the amount of lights I want, Amazon are charging Β£129.
Needless to say it'll be the old tried and tested lights making an appearance now.
I love changing up the decorations on the Christmas tree. I have boxes of all different colours and look for inspiration online. I haven't decided on this year's colour scheme but I did treat myself to a new tree in the January sale.
Mine is kinda a house in a winter wonderland which I bought second hand cardboard obvs
Last year I made a warm fireplace still have it for further use
