Yes I do. Iv never understood why it's illegal & alcohol is legal when alcohol causes far more social problems then a bit of weed does. Cannabis also has medical benefits for a wide range of painful issues. I think the police forces time would also be better spent on other issues. Iv lived next to alcohol dependents & a cannabis addict at one time. Guess which one caused us the most issues?

I absolutely agree with what you've just said. Couldn't have said it better.

chelseaturpin I hate the smell of weed being smoked but I'd take it all day long over the hellish anti social behaviour of people who drink too much & dont know there limits or alcohol dependents.

im a firm believer if you do or dont do it it isnt my business. but i do think if you smoke (cigarettes or weed) or drink alcohol. you should be respect of others around you. i dont want someones secondhand smoke nor do i want a drunk falling around in front my kids or near me.

I am going to stay neutral on this as my opinion is too long winded. However, I do wish they could make non smelly weed as I am sick of smelling it everywhere I go. There is a supplier who lives next door to our contact centre and we often see it (and other drugs probably) exchanging hands, police do nothing. It is awful loading and unloading kids with the smell of that stuff pervading the air.

I totally see where you are coming from those who smoke weed should do it either in their own homes or away from those who don't smoke/want to smell it.

They should legalise it. Whats crazy is alcohol is legal and cannabis is illegal when alcohol will have more harmful effects than cannabis.

Getsome I don't know about that. You should see my cousin who has psychosis after smoking skunk.

He was probably prone to get some mental illness anyway, but the weed didn't help.

I have liked your comment because I totally agree with the logic of what you have said, even though I cannot stand the stuff myself nor have ever touched it. And I do believe it can have long term effect on the brain, but so can alcohol, and on other parts of the body.

TheChimp Im sorry to hear about your cousin but can it be proven it was the cannabis that caused the issues? Alcohol is far worse and is proven to cause my problems than cannabis

Getsome According to his psychiatrist, it was at least the catalyst. He was absolutely fine before smoking spliff, but after a year, he had been diagnosed with some sort of schizophrenia.

Maybe it was because he was young. I have heard that the brain doesn't fully mature until around 25, so if cannabis is legalized, I'd hope that the minimum age for buying it would be at 25.

TheChimp Those who think that cannabis is perfectly safe - just don't realise how it can affect people. justification of it, for recreational use, because other drugs are legal, doesn't hold water, I agree with the medical use of it (where harmful toxins in it have been eliminated) though.

I wonder how many cannabis smokers (and justifiers) realise that ONE joint a day is the equivalent of 20 cigarettes a day as far as lung cancer is concerned. I also believe it can create a nicotine addiction - because it's usually mixed with tobacco to be smoked. https://www.nhs.uk/news/heart-and-lungs/cannabis-lung-health-risks-underestimated/

Getsome Is that a typo "cause MY problems"? If you meant "cause MORE problems" then could you quote where that PROOF is. (I've read quite a lot and never seen it) If however you did mean "MY problems" does it mean you abused both cannabis and alcohol?

TheChimp Minimum age of 25? Is that because no-one underage smokes or drinks alcohol either?🐞

Getsome Typical! You say there's PROOF but don't (or can't) link to it. The word PROOF is too often misused. Who did the proving? - Too often peoples "opinions" are regarded as PROOF by those who wish to believe them. Alcohol MIGHT well cause more problems than cannabis - it is reasonable to ASSUME that's because more people drink alcohol than smoke cannabis. But it's not PROOF it's just a reasonable assumption based on logic and not very scientific.

Furthermore you haven't yet clarified whether you meant "caused YOUR problems" (as written) or caused MORE problems.

This isn't an opinion: I have yet to meet a regular cannabis user who is "right in the head" but I have met thousands of moderate drinkers who might occasionally over indulge, but they're usually sober the next morning.

You dont realise how many people do it and dont mention it because it is classed as illegal. I dont need to prove it, its on the internet. A lot of people i know use it and are in professional jobs and are perfectly fine in the head. How many deaths are overdoses of alcohol compared to cannabis? and it was a typo

I agree on the surface of it but if you scratch a little deeper I think TheChimp has raised a very real issue. Also my brother has been an alcoholic for the last 24 years, he reached the point where if there wasn't enough alcohol in his system he would fit. Over 2 years ago he stopped drinking and hasn't touched a drop since, his life now is fantastic for him, his wife and kids. A lot of people stop using weed but it seems like the psychological problems it can cause don't go away.

Hi, I've always been conflicted about this. Some people can suffer from mental health issues but I've been told by cannabis smokers that this is due to different strengths/types? Some people are just relaxed and I think if you're not harming anyone then fair enough. I don't think it's fair to smoke in a home if children are present though.

What about eating edibles for medical use if you dont want to smoke cannabis?

Don't take too much notice of what people who have dependency problems tell you to justify their dependency, anyone who needs any substance to RELAX, needs to seek help.

I've known people who drank so much "just to relax", who'd get so relaxed they'd fall over☺

Medical cannabis oil that has had the THC removed and is used for medical purposes to help people with cancer, epilepsy, MS, MND etc yes, The weaker strains of CBD that people have been using for autism, stress and anxiety etc yes - if its being used to help people then i understand it. However just your average Joe smoking cannabis that has THC in - no thats drug abuse and i dont like it or think it should be legalised. I understand lots of people do it and people say it doesnt cause harm but i dont agree. It does change people and ive seen many people just smoking weed to moving onto more hardcore drugs - including my brother. I actually detest drug use. What people choose to do is up to them - but i dont want it made legal and my kids growing up to think its fine.

Very well written KirstyJames I completely agree cannabis oil with thc removed definitely has a role to play in managing certain illnesses. I also agree weed can very easily become a gateway drug (not a popular opinion, but something I have seen happening with more and more young people). So many young deaths that started with just a spliff. Where I used to live, young people were progressing swiftly from weed to cocaine, mdma and ketamine. A 16 year old girl drowned in her bath after taking ketamine. I hope your brother has managed to turn his back on it and got his life back.x

Have never liked the stuff, and I’ve no need for it. But I know people who depend on it. In a world where there are so many other vices..it’s up to the people, but the problem is usually what the impact it has on society overall is

Britain is already the biggest producer and exporter of legal cannabis in the world. A lot of it is grown in Downham Market in Norfolk. There’s also a giant glasshouse at a secret location in Wiltshire...shhh!

I smoked it for 20 years but after i saw what it has done to my friends and know intimately what it can do to the brain and young peoples prospects of studying etc I would say no definitely not for recreational but definitely for medical even queen Victoria used it!

I was a supporter of NORML but not anymore after seeing the OCD and mental problems it brings on.

My best pal hung himself after it brought on severe schizophrenia - i have seen a friend who came back to see us all from America and hadnt tried it in 10 years and decided to smoke just one jay go haywire and end up freaking out.

It also makes you incredibly lazy and unable to function - Just look at Jamaica for proof of that!

Nope not a good idea much as I would like to be cool and say yeah man.....but NO man!

Anyone who knows anything about the truth knows it was made illegal because of lobbying by American Logging companies!

It's better not to make it legal entirely as there's people who drive under the influence of it and therefore, they put others at risk. It's bad enough when they've drunk alcohol too.

Like

Just because something gets legalised doesn't mean people would drive on it though. Not a valid reason to not legalise something. Alcohol is far worse

They *shouldn't*, but they do. They're both equally as bad for degenerates who abuse it.

I know someone who grows it and as long as it's not taken in excessive amounts of get addicted to it, no problem. But as usual, it's the troublemakers who ruin the fun for the rest of us. ukheather
