Ask a Question
I love reading books. Fiction, scifi, self help, biographies, parenting etc... all sorts my favourite book changes with each book I read.. my latest was about Vivienne Westwood... it was interesting read. I didnt know she had plenty of struggles and started out in early 70's! What's your favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre. I read them over again, have watched the different films and tv adaptations numerous times, I just love them. I love the other Jane Austen books too.
Mine is a child's book I read when I was about 11, and I still read it maybe every couple of years.
Danny the Champion of the World, by Roald Dahl.
blacklabrador I think I read it with my son from my childhood ones I absolutely love A.De Saint-Exupery "The Little Prince". It's kids book but it's very clever with hidden meaning for adults.
jurgita0712 I think it's nice to revisit those things that gave us pleasure as kids.
Roald Dahl is clever in that his childrens books are so readable that any one of any age can enjoy them.
blacklabrador indeed. We recently read George's marvellous medicine. It's so funny. I'm trying to instill the love for books to my son too. Rather than just xbox and computer games and all the technology which surrounds us daily.
'Rendezvous with Rama' probably as the subject matter I find very exciting encountering an alien civilisation and technology. There is meant to be a film coming of this but seems to be in a production limbo.
BonzoBanana you might enjoy "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer - twilights author. I loved it. It was very unexpected take on aliens
Impossible to choose one favourite. I only ever read books I cannot put down. The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Penman about the war of the roses. A trilogy by her about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Anything by Anne O'Brien or Elizabeth Chadwick. A series of books by David Gilman called Masters of War.
I cannot praise enough a set of 6 books by Maurice Druon under the heading of the Accursed Kings.
Lynibis I liked some of Philippa Gregory books - The White Queen, The lady of the rivers etc.
chelseaturpin i read all Harry Potter books. also hunger games. Sue Townsend books about Adrian Mole are hilarious it starts from him being 13 and 3/4 and follows him through adulthood. You might enjoy it
jurgita0712 ill give it a go thank you. I couldnt for the life of me get into the hunger games
chelseaturpin I struggled too first time. But I was pregnant and started crying at the thought of kids getting killed... but then I gave it another go. First few chapters seems a bit dragging but after that you start getting into it. I liked the books. The films were made too commercialised and sexual. I started watching it but got bored
Nadiaparveen I heard some good comments about his books but haven't read one yet. What's the best one you liked?
jurgita0712 ooooh they are all so good and gripping. Maybe I will choose Promise Me as a fave.
Nadiaparveen jurgita0712 I thoroughly enjoyed Promise me. I'd highly recommend too.
jurgita0712 The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman
Novel by Laurence Sterne.
Anything by Daniela Sacerdoti. I love her books. Anyone who likes Diane Chamberlain or such will likely enjoy her books too.
Patricia Cornwell, The Scarpetta Series.
There’s about 24 books in the series so far, not sure if another one is being written though. Always go back to them
