When Viewing a House Would You Expect to See the Toilet Brush in the Bathroom?
Ask a Question
I know it might seem like a strange question but it's asked with genuine interest. When looking at photos on places like rightmove you can't really tell if the toilet brush or bin is in the bathroom or not as you can't really see them.
Would you expect to see the toilet brush and bin the bathroom when viewing a house or do you think they would look unsightly? Or is it something that people don't really notice? My husband says I'm over thinking things and as look as it is tidy and clean, then it's fine!
Just out of interest in your latest questions. Would you be looking to show your own home or the estate agent ? They will know either way when giving valuations on what will be pointers or not on said things. If I saw one in toilet I wouldn’t be offended when viewing... rather more so I would be then if I took witness to seeing a linger
lynneh we aren't entirely sure yet, it would depend on a number of factors. I know they can give pointers when doing the valuation but I'm thinking about how it's staged for when they come to do the valuation.
I've looked online at other houses in the area but like I say it's hard to tell from the pictures. I don't it is something that would put a buyer off.
I don’t think i have ever noticed either way and we are actually house hunting it wouldn’t be something that would bother me as it is something you would expect in a bathroom
I must be a bit weird as I have never had/used a toilet brush for the whole of my adult life! My loo is sparkling clean as I bleach every night before bed and limescale when required. The outer and surround is cleaned same way I do bath and sink.
I've just been viewing houses and I honestly can't tell you whether loo brushes were there or not. What I was more concerned about were the size of the room and the facilities. I didnt care what was in each room as I know it won't be staying
That's good to know. I haven't viewed a house in 5 years but I was concerned about the size of the rooms, the layout of the house, storage space and I can't really remember what was and wasn't in each room. I just want to make sure it looks its best.
Imnotcheap ours is in the corner so it is out of reach of our son, but would be seen in any photos, which doesn't bother me, just thinking about how to make it look its best for buyers
Shouldn't matter as long as doesn't look tatty my mum always had 2 one that went with toilet roll holder and one she used but kept out of sight MrsCraig
Imnotcheap it is a stainless steel one that goes with the accessories and I have a grey plastic one that I actually use!
If there wasn't one and the absence caught my eye, then I'd be thinking 'where the heck do they keep it?' .... Everyone has one so why hide it? .... I'd be turned off by a dirty loo or rubbish and filth everywhere rather than the brush and bin playing hide and seek lol.
Your husband is right I’m afraid to say. We all need and use bins in the bathroom. My family laugh at me because when I’ve cleaned the loo with the brush I balance it under the seat to drip dry so they need to look before running in.
I think it's something viewers don't really notice, they just notice the cleanliness. When our house was on the market I used to be obsessed with making sure the mirrors and taps were gleaming in the bathroom.
beccatavender I'm like that anyway! The mirrors and glass in our house are constantly cleaned! The kitchen and bathroom taps get a deep clean with a toothbrush once a week!
I used to run around like a mad women every morning cleaning before I went to work as normally I just do a big clean
on the weekend @MrsCraig
beccatavender I am planning to clean everyday constantly when there are viewings and my husband has been told he has to tidy up after himself!
