White Noise

I normally put white noise for my toddler to sleep. Lately I have been leaving it on all night as he sleeps with us. I find it very relaxing. If you use it, do you keep it all night as well or just for a short time? I thought it was going to bother me but when I wake up in the middle of the night is there and is peaceful.
My son plays rain falling to my granddaughter but I always need the loo after a few minutes of it on.
I have recently bought an air purifier for my bedroom and is very quiet, I noticed I have been sleeping better not sure if it's because of the better air quality or the comforting background noise. 
I tried it for my sons when they was small and they hated it. Personally I never have silence perminant annoying noise from tinnitus wish I did
That would drive me crazy, like Chinese water torture! I have to have complete silence and pitch blackness in order to sleep well.
