Whose Diet Starts Today??
Ask a Question
Whose is starting their diet / fitness plans today?
I was going to start today, but think I might start Monday...
Wouldn't a better question be "Whose new diet will end before January does?".
People waiting for festivities to end before dealing with weight problems are usually not really serious about losing weight. (similar applies to smokers).
It's my opinion that diets are responsible for more excess weight than they are for people losing it. When diets end most people put on more weight than they lost.
Well I have to disagree. Think though I'm a success story losing 6 stone and keeping it off for now 6 years. I enjoyed myself over Christmas so will need to refocus in January!
jamiepownall You strengthen my opinion - even though you had lost weight you still think that eating too much, or eating the wrong foods, is the way to ENJOY yourself. I didn't say that you did.
I enjoyed myself over Christmas too, but didn't put on any weight, although I did put on some before Christmas mainly due to the pandemic when I couldn't excercise the same, the last thing I'll do is try to diet it off.
davidstockport well I dont drink. Don't smoke. So I like to enjoy good food. But each to their own. The way I live my life suits me. But what ever suits you
I dont think my diet ever ends its a life change and commitment.
Im glad you didnt put on any weight over Christmas. Well done to you
jamiepownall The best way of ensuring diets never end is to never let them start. Too many people (mainly female) start dieting because they think they're overweight, the people who have good weight control are usually those who have never been on a diet.
Regarding "good food" it's not usually "good food" that accounts for excess weight,
Never have had to diet I write this has I eat a nice slice of Tesco chocolate log cup of tea with 2 sugars then a cigarette to start my day. No never exercised either and a perfect size 10
Ann that cigarette is probably going to do you much more harm than a little extra weight, although smoking isn't a good way to control weight, even though those who do smoke often have a smoke instead of food.
davidstockport yep most probably is but I much prefer a cigarette then a jail sentence
i desperately want to but can’t I started my diet last year on Jan 1st and lost a stone by Jan 31st - only I then found out I was pregnant so fast forwarding to Jan 1st 2021, I am 5 stone heavier and breastfeeding (with an undersupply) and dieting can affect your supply even more so I have to embrace the chunk
jamiepownall my baby was 10lb1, and I lost 1.2litres of blood during childbirth, plus placenta and amniotic fluid weight - yet I lost 0lbs!! don’t even know how that’s possible!
SarahBenne67061 wow thats a big baby!! Ha maybe the scales were wrong i would not worry about it. Losing weight right now shouldn't even be on your mind. Just sounds like you're doing a good job being a good mum!
Sarah rapid weight loss usually results in rapid weight gain when the "diet" ends. Those who lose weight quickly will usually put it back on WITH INTEREST even more quickly,
jamiepownall thank you davidstockport i‘m pretty good at keeping the weight off, but then again I’ve never put on this much before I was slim before getting pregnant, I just wanted to tone up and have a perfect body
SarahBenne67061 It is possible that losing a stone in a month (far too rapid) has something to do with your weight problems now, it's better when you do decide to lose excess weight again that you do so gradually, a pound a fortnight is almost two stone in a year.
I'm starting on Monday, too much nice tempting stuff in the house at the moment. Got bought a 16kg kettle bell for Xmas, think the GF is trying to tell me something. Remember muscle weighs more than fat!
Am I the only person who actually lost weight this Christmas??? I have not gone without anything, but I certainly have scaled things back this year. Xx
I say this every year and never do it so this year I'm not gonna say im going on a diet I'm gonna cut down lol
Definately will add more fresh produce, make more of a conscious effort
Back to running, managed 11 miles today
I wish i had the will power between being on furlough, kids being off school longer and all the xmas chocolates it won’t be anytime soon
Mine starts in the morning. Good to hear that I won't be alone in dieting. Good luck to all of your who will be dieting too.
I like Joe Wicks’ idea. Exercise to feel good mentally and physically. Not to lose weight.
Ive sticked to mine for 45 years . Never fails todeliver . Thank you to the seafood diet .
