Why Do iPads Remain so Expensive?
Ask a Question
They never seem to reduce in price. Even when new models are released, the old models are not greatly reduced.
Why is that?
Because people think the iPads are the best and people will pay whatever to get one me I don't like iPads or iPhones I like android
Because people pay that price happily (ish) my last apple product was the iphone4 and got bored of the product, went android and save loads of money and have not looked back. I do use a newish ipad at work and again it's meh, simple to use and seems very robust but boring
Depends on the model and make i got an Amazon fire for £50, Apple products cost an arm and a leg
chelseaturpin can you put a memory card in it? If so what is the max memory? Apps seem to take up so much space on these devices nowadays.
HappyTravels I dont have a memory card in mine. I use mine just for Netflix and Disney+
It's the same with all Apple gadgets. People seem to think that they are the best and will happily pay good money for, thanks to great marketing strategies. Apple knows this, hence continuing with such extortionate prices.
I personally think that all Apple gadgets are overrated and overpriced for what you get. I used to have an iPhone and I couldn't see what all the big deal was.
Give me Android and Windows any day.
RegularComper90 anything you’d recommend that’s on a par with say a 128GB iPad please? I’ve no idea where to start.
Its all about the brand, u basically pay for the name. Some have good specifications but other products non apple have the same specs at half the price.
Apple are premium products, they are very good but very poor value for money and often have restrictions like lack of memory expansion or missing headphone sockets. I bought the tablet below for just over £38. It's got 4GB of memory, 64GB storage and long battery life. It's a budget tablet but is pretty decent and I bought a 128GB micro sd card to increase storage for £9. Both thanks to the recent Amazon warehouse 30% off promotion. So I got a tablet with 192GB of storage for less than £50. It does everything I need at a decent speed and I'm very pleased with the display quality. Speakers are less than stellar but I mainly use headphones so not really an issue.
I'm not saying its the best tablet in the world but it performs well, runs a lot of emulators I like, runs kodi with add ons and vanced youtube plus any android apk I can think of. Camera quality is not amazing but its running a recent version of android.
What am I missing not have an ipad with ios? Some speed, a better camera but there are disadvantages too like the lack of apps compared to android. Surely most people would benefit from the difference in price, could be towards a holiday etc.

In what way if you buy a £500 ipad and sell it for £350 you have still lost £150 which many decent android tablets cost less than. I was given an old iphone as it was pretty much valueless. It was perhaps 6 years old at the time but it was very expensive when it first came out. Apple stuff may hold its value quite well for a couple of years but then it will start dropping in value very quickly.
I dislike Apple customer service and the over pricing/rip offs, and poor attitude as regards constantly changing charging formats etc etc but I have to admit I'm a big fan of i.o.s and the way everything updates and syncs so seamlessly.... I absolutely detest Windows and it's interminable slow updates and although I did try Android, it didn't persuade me. For me Apple is the equivalent to the stupidly priced moisturisers.cleansers/make up etc (which I don't waste my money on) ..... I have fallen for the hype and am sold on the products .... oops!
My mother recently updated her chromebook with a model from the amazon warehouse with 30% off so it cost her about £122 and was as new pretty much. The chromebook is super fast, great functionality and painless near instant updates. I agree about windows I only use it for the game support really. It's a dire operating system and horrifically bloated but android seems pretty good to me and chrome os even better which normally also supports android apps too unless a very early chromebook. Sometimes you can install linux too if you wanted to.
The limited experience I have of IOS means my opinion I accept may not be fair but when I did use it, app support was limited and it seemed very restrictive. When I looked for apps to do the stuff I wanted there seemed far less free options compared to android and it just seemed a much more commercialised environment. The price Apple was charging for the hardware was so incredibly overpriced it just seemed a nobrainer to me to just ignore Apple products.
I should add that I'm an early Apple user that basically moved away from Apple. I have a couple of old Apple II computers in the loft and I think a Classic II and SE30 somewhere up there. There is also a powerpc mac or two about but not much in the way of Apple products in the last 6 or 7 years.
BonzoBanana That's all really interesting..... We got a basic Chromebook which we love too - hubby uses it mainly ..... but that's for fast web surfing .... I don't know anything about Chromebooks capable of doing much else ...will take a look tho.... I do more involved stuff on my Apple..... which is 8 years old now.... and I'm hoping won't need replacing for a long while fingers crossed!
