Will Online Stores Cause the Demise of High Street Shops?
Other
By 2030 I will see everyone buying online and high street shops becoming pick up points?
What do you think?
No, some people will still want to go to stores and some of them generate huge profits, it is about the way of trading. People love discounters and they make profit and grow and also off price retailer makes huge amount of money.
I do not know how people shop, but I can not buy clothing for myself online. I tried again and failed badly. The colors are not the same, the sizing is not right and sometimes they do not write enough details from the products.
Not sure the demise will happen yet, but definitely a decline. I personally prefer physical shopping but I guess you can't hold back 'progress'. The only good I can see is that if we have fewer shops the empty ones could easily be turned into accommodation for our growing population without having to continually build on our green and pleasant land.
It's likely many more well known companies will go out of business in the coming years. There needs to be a more even playing field between online and high street. Business rates and rents will need to be reduced. Many new companies are reducing costs by not having an office or shop. Instead meetings with clients are held in cafes or shared workspaces, such as WeWork or Regus.
I shop online and in shops. I think it just depends. For example, my Granny and Mother in law do a lot of shopping on the highstreet/shopping centres as they like to try things on, feel the material, plus it is a day out for them. If there is something they want that they can't find in the shops, then they will phone either me or my husband and ask us to order it for them online. I like looking online and in the shops, sometimes there are things that are online exclusives, so you can't get them otherwise. I am not the biggest fan of shopping so I do it as quickly as possible.
