Winter Duvet/coats and Heating on...
Ask a Question
Has anyone else swapped their clothes to winter ones yet?.. I did mine yesterday.. and I swapped the duvets from summer to 10.5 tog...I feel cold...though I'll try to keep heating off for few more days definitely feels like autumn is here to me...
I've started wearing my hoodies in the house and have had my jumpers and boots on! We turned our heating on yesterday so our son and dog weren't cold, if it was just us we would have just put an extra layer on.
MrsCraig I had hoodie on too..
I'm trying to hold out the heating until at least start of September ...but I might need to turn it on sooner it seems rather cold in my sons room too..
BlueOrchid our son's room was cold and the dog was visibly shaking! Like you I was reluctant to turn it on too
Well, I haven't gone that far, but am now wearing long sleeve tops instead of short, and last night I put a blanket over the summer duvet but will not swap to the winter one until the end of September at least. I keep hearing we are getting more hot weather in September.
Lynibis well weather forecast is just like astrology predictions atm I keep checking it to try to plan something or if I can get some washing outside...and it keeps changing nearly every minute... yesterday it was supposed to be dry my washing finished and at same time it started raining...typical !!
I was covered in blankets yesterday as I was absolutely freezing... keep hoping the hot weather might return
pownall0407 I was rather cold too... I would like it to be tiny bit warmer but not another heatwave...
I haven't swapped my wardrobe to summer clothes nor changed to summer duvet this year. I was wrapped up in blankets yesterday
Chilli this morning... It won't be long before everyone is chewing my ear off to out the heating on
The Summer duvet is still on and, although the weather has been wet and pretty foul lately, it hasn't been cold. Today the rain has stopped and the sky is cloudless. North/South differential.
sunny101 well in Midlands the temperature definitely dropped...today was slightly sunny and a little warm we went to the park in tshirts. After an hour it got rather cold...
Ive not swapped stuff yet but am wearing my jumper and got window shut supposed to be nicer after bank holiday
I've put my socks on and a thicker cardigan/jumper but still got summer duvet on and window open Time yet for things to get cold.
Not me, still have fan going at night, refuse to give up shorts and Fitflops. I go walking my dog and I get so hot. Could be my age!
Iβm still surviving in a tshirt most days and no heating, but Iβm sure it wonβt be long as the temp has definitely dropped! I think itβs only because of pregnancy I have extra body warmth (Iβm surprised you donβt feel the same way BlueOrchid!)
sarahgreen15 I'm hard to please atmI slept with no covers until now because I was too hot. Then yesterday it felt freezing in the house so I wore a jumper... then I was too cold without duvet, then got too hot again... after fun visit to midwife and another scan they brought my c section forward to next fri because the baby is rather big and over 9lbs already....
yesterday, I had a jumper on. Still cold. had to put a pj top on underneath. Still cold. Today, I've been under the duvet reading a fair bit. Not too warm still. Feels like autumn. I need to go outside and garden but it was so cold yesterday morning, I retreated in.
We went to put our heating on yesterday and the boiler just wonβt have it, think itβs broke, annoying as it is only about 2 or 3 years old. Hot water still works though
If the hot water still works but the heating doesn't its a thermostat issue (or maybe 3 way valve ) not a boiler issue .
Golfforall ah okay, I think the thermostat is in the boiler as there is not a dial on the wall, itβs a combo boiler. Itβs way overdue a service too so should probably call someone out to look at it!
AliceBell64468 have you checked for the air in radiators? Sometimes if it hasnt been used for a while its possible that there's air bubbles somewhere in the system... also is your pressure arrow on green or red? Does it show any error code?
BlueOrchid no I need to get a key to bleed the radiators with, the pressure shows 2 bar which is probably too high? And I read that you should bleed radiators to relieve pressure. No error codes, just a snowflake symbol which according to the book means frost peotection.
AliceBell64468 well I think our boilers are different. But yes you should try to bleed the radiators first just in case theres air bubbles in the system. On my boiler there is a valve underneath which I can close and then reopen again to increase pressure. If you're pressure is on 2 it seems like its optimal..if its 3-4 or way below 1 that's not good.
BlueOrchid ah okay, yes I will keep an eye out for the bleeding tool or get one off eBay or something. Thank you for your suggestions x
AliceBell64468 you're welcome. Hope it helps. I had similar thing recently I know how stressful it can be.. oh and when you look for the bleeding key check if you need the key with square bit or I think some have the triangle bit in them. Good luck x
I have swapped my summer duvet to my winter one and I am going to get my angle boots out and my winter coat. I have also started wearing winter clothes. I went out today and a lot of people are dressed up in winter clothing. I guess we skipped autumn and went straight to winter
No, the temperature has been OK where I am. Although, I tend to find winters are usually mild in my area.
I stopped my husband putting the heating on yesterday. Mostly cos I have lots of plants by the radiator and I didn't fancy moving them all, otherwise I reckon it'll be on.
Iβm wearing thermals. But thatβs not unusual for me, as I find anything less than 30 degrees cold
Extra pair of socks as feet are cold anyways, but also a fleece around the house and i hide now and then under a blanket, i hate this crazy weather but at least the sun is out today
I dragged myself outside today to do some gardening. I felt like I should be carving a pumpkin it was so autumn like. Feels like summer has gone. I had a jacket, jumper and tshirt. Needed welly boots it is so muddy out there.
I've noticed that the leaves have been falling off the trees already, didn't expect to see that just yet!
I've now got my teddy sheet and duvet on the bed and Iv e got the eletric blanket on most nights. To day made homemade soup it was that cold. Got the slow cooker ready. I don't have heating. But I have two open fires and a long burner. They keep the house nice and cosy.
I have started wearing my autumn jackets already. It's getting cold early this year, hopefully it'll snow this winter
I still haven't washed my winter coat yet so its not ready for me to wear. Weather needs to hold off as I haven't got my gloves and scarf winter ready either. I had to get up last night and put my sleeping bag on of the duvet. Might have to break the winter duvet out soon.
Iβve been wearing my jumper the last few days, but wonβt be putting the heating on any time soon. Wonβt be able to afford it. Itβs often December before we put it on here and just wear extra layers until then, but with even less income than usual this year thanks to the pandemic I donβt know when weβll be able to have it on.
cocolgooh bless you. I hope it will work out for you and you will be able to find another job... that blasted covid ruined things for everyone. From job loss, businesses closure, to broken up marriages, weight gain, domestic violence, to death of many I suppose on the plus side we're still alive and there's to hoping it will get better... I got 7 yo who's prone to catch coughs during cold season and a baby on a way so even I dont want to yet but very soon I'll have to put the heating on...and honestly I wish you all the best β€β€
BlueOrchid Thank you. I hope it'll all work out for you too. I still have a job thankfully, but my hours and income have been reduced a lot. I'm also a full time carer to two adults that I get no help whatsoever with right now, so that makes it difficult for me to work more too. I hope you and your family can keep warm this year and stay safe from Coronavirus.
Iβm usually chilly except for a few days during a heatwave. Most evenings I have a throw but Iβm sure the central heating will be on soon.
I'm still in shorts and t shirt. Still using fans at night and just the duvet cover. Some morning it's rather fresh
