Wish List Addition.

Latest Deals

I believe there was a wish list post from the founders some time ago but after a search cannot find so here is my wish:

Would it be possible, without too much hard work, to have a list of all the chat topics we have posted individually? I often wish to add or refer back to a topic I have started but cannot find it in search as I can't remember the title, especially when it has been changed by a 'helpful' mentor.

Further, it would be great to type in another member's username so we can refer back to their topics too.

I am often left frustrated when I want to add to or update a topic and can't find it. Rather than risk accusations of repeating a topic I just let it go.

What do you think of this?

Hey 🙂

It's on our to-do list to update people's profiles so that you can see comments, topics and reviews 👍

At the moment the profiles only support showing "posts" (e.g. deals, vouchers, competitions, etc). I'll need to rejig quite a bit of code to support the other things so sadly isn't a feature I can quickly add in. But no convincing required - we definitely want to do it!

Hi Lynibis

CC: Kelsey

Here’s a little trick that may help you Lyn.

Let’s say you were looking for your ‘Solo Isolation’ chat post but couldn’t remember the title (or it had been changed) so using the Search Chat function on LD was no good to you.

Being smart you did remember a specific phrase or word that you used in the body text of your post. Let’s say it was ‘Tupperware’. (You did!)

  1. Go to Google.
  2. In the search box type in www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/ followed by your search term "tupperware"
  3. So your search term looks like this: www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/ "tupperware"
  4. Click to Search
  5. Review the Google Search results
  6. Hopefully you see your post
  7. Click on it in Google to be taken to your post on Latest Deals

What you post on LD can take a few days before appearing in Google Search, so this may not work on your most recent posts.

Using the inverted commas forces Google to search for a specific phrase, such as "fried eggs".

Johnny wow you are a mine of useful information. I think many of us forget that contributions we make on any site can end up elsewhere and it's probably another reason to not be rude or outrageous. Thanks for the tip!

Still glad Kelsey will hopefully tweak the site to oblige though.👌

If that doesn’t work for you, there’s another method you could try, which is to do a Google Search for your own username, i.e. www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat "lynibis"

The Google Search results will be a bit random and not in any kind of recognisable order. To narrow things down a bit click Tools / Anytime, and then select from Past Week / Past Month / Past Year / Custom Range.

Google Search is a very powerful tool and there's lots of hidden things you can do with it!

I agree though. What you are asking for would be a useful addition.
