Would you like to holiday in Tenerife?

Ask a Question

Lots of competitions in Italy and Tenerife out and about at the moment. If you won one would you go?

I wouldn't enter if I was not willing to go....why would you as it could be stopping someone else having a holiday they would really want. I don't enter comps unless I or a family member would really make use of it. No point winning a prize you will be disappointed with.

Possibly because when the competition was entered nobody had even heard of Coronavirus. As we all know some competitions have end dates many months in the future.

Personally, I would not have a problem going to Italy or Tenerife, that would change though if the Government / Health Authority issued recommendations not to.

I suspect that the question refers to the CoronaVirus - which is affecting Tenerife and Italy. And people who've already entered a competition (before the recent news) now finding they've won.https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-british-tourists-to-be-quarantined-for-two-weeks-in-tenerife-hotel-11943448

With everything that's going on with the coronavirus at the moment, I wouldn't like to risk it. Better safe than sorry.

davidstockport oh now I understand but as the question did not mention or even hint at the reason for asking I took it as it read. I am not very good at guessing!

The govt isn't really saying much, they're underreporting the issue as "it's serious, but not that serious". Some of the experts even say masks aren't needed.

Lynibis I'd half guessed - but hadn't heard about Tenerife being affected so checked online. As you say the question didn't mention the reason some people (including myself) wouldn't want to go. Having to be quarantined abroad can't be much fun.

I would ask if there was an option to have the money alternative but if not then yes i would go 🤣

I'd be more tempted to ask if the holiday could be postponed until after the Coronavirus problem was over. Two weeks in Tenerife is bad enough but being quarantined for another few weeks would be too much. (unless it killed the cockroaches off too).☺

If the powers that be granted me a win, then I will see is as my calling to go on this holiday. It would be miraculous if I’d won as I’ve not entered any competitions

Yes...

I live in a big city with millions of other people and there is a good chance it will spread more in the UK. With people constantly flying in and out, traveling on packed trains, underground trains, buses, going to cafes, etc. If you are always in close proximity to lots other people it already feels like a bit of a lottery as to whether you catch the Coronavirus.

Wear a mask even if people look peculiar at you. Eyes and ears should be covered, too, if possible.

Yeah, I'm actually booked to go to tenerife in May and I'm still going to go. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow or worse 🤷🏻‍♀️ we have coronovirus here in the UK too so could get it either way.

The virus is more than likely well spread in big cities like London than in small communities, and the likes. No one can see the virus so they assume everything's fine.

PhilipMarc Did u see what happened in North Italy? There is no proper information about the virus and that is scary. Also that u need to self-isolate if u get a flu like corona virus...point on a person who will stay home...it going to spread fast and we do not even know how fast the numbers grow, but they expect that 500.000 people will die from it.

It's a Spanish island, so yeah, why not. Helps that you'd know the language, too.

They only speak in Castillan (with some variations of their own) so no need to worry about Catalan, Euskera, Galego (only really spoken in the Galician community which is near to Portugal) or any of that.

Andorra is amazing during the winter. They have some beautiful mountains, but don't get adventurous and try to go by yourself, have at least someone else too if you will.
