Workout Pains!!!!

Ask a Question

So i joined the gym this week and went to a leg, bums and tums class. Well... it was so intense. I am not so active so this was very very difficult but i gave it my best shot. My thighs have been killing me for 2 days, they seem abit better today. I have still gone to the gym but worked on upper half. Any suggestions as to how i can help ease the pain or speed up healing process without taking medication. Lesson learnt for me! I think i got too excited! Hahaha

Ohh iv been there, I feel your pain. I tried to run before I could work many times. It will take several days to settle, light stretches & hot baths help. Try to ease into exercise next time & taking protein after a work out helps repair muscles.

Glitterandgold brilliant, thank you. I'm feeling much better but i have definately learnt a lesson! Don't run before you can walk! Haha

It will get easier - what you are experiencing is DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). You get it when you first start something. After the first time it's normally less painful. Try having a bath with magnesium salts after you exercise. Don't give up!!!

Once you first join the gym, it's definitely much harder, it takes you time to get used to working out all the time. Taking protein does help repair your muscles and helps you recover, I would recommend using whey protein, also make sure your drinking enough water throughout the day.

I started back up on the exercise bike just before christmas and did only 15 mins at first. I'm up to between 35-40 mins now. I'm building up slowly as I don't want to flare my fibromyalgia or rheumatism up. I find olbas oil helps with muscle pains and deep heat.

I’ve been having these same problem! Ive been eating so healthily since new years so I’ve got a load more energy, but everytime I do a proper work out, I feel like I’ve pulled all my muscles and stretching doesn’t help 🤦🏻‍♀️

sarahgreen15 oh no! I think that i didn't stretch enough before we began too. I think the most sensible thing is to start slow and work up, its probably a big shock to the body, well i know it is for mine haha.

I find that a nice hot water bottle seems to do the trick.. But speaking as someone who has been in your situation numerous times, I would suggest that from now on you warm yourself up first such as muscle stretches. Also consume some unrefined carbs for the energy, as well as protein as this is what helps your muscles to heal. Also, I know it's exciting when you are new to doing something, but you need to start off slowly and gradually build your way up.

RegularComper90 i will definately start using a hot water bottle, i dont know why i didnt think of that over the last few days lol. I have started to do stretches for longer as i definately know where and why it all went wrong lol. We just walked in and the class trainer just cracked on! Will definately up my take on protein. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated 😊
