Have You Worn Make up in Lockdown?
Ask a Question
I normally wear make up everyday for work and don’t wear it at the weekend unless I’m going out or doing something.. this year, I’ve literally applied make up once since February.. i don’t see the point for just kicking about the house and going to Asda, but I do miss my make up! Have you been wearing it?
No, but then I don't anyway. Whether I wear it or not it makes no difference to my life, people like me or not, with or without it. However about 3 times this year I tried to wear it when going out and each time woke with bleary, puffy, bloodshot eyes, despite using new stuff, I have now permanently given up!
I look awful without make up so I feel like it gives me confidence - stupid things like I blush and get embarrassed really easily, if I’m wearing a good coverage foundation, you can’t see it and I can pretend I’m more confident than I am!
sarahgreen15 I do understand why younger women like to wear it but with older eyes I just think you can't see it yourself so are doing it for everyone else.
I remember 40 years ago not leaving the house without it, my husband wouldn't let me, so I suppose my stance now is one of defiance at being told I wasn't good enough without.
Young pretty women with amazing figures seem to lack the confidence that older women have when no longer young, pretty or with a great figure.
Nope lol. Aint doing or going anywhere special whilst in my room watching netflix so dont see the point.
Yes I wear makeup all the time. And I did in lock down. I think it's nice to wear it . It makes you feel good. It's not heavy make just light. And I take it off before bed has well some people don't.
I am really surprised to read this Nicola as you have often said you live alone on a farm. All kudos to you though, I certainly wouldn't bother as it would be in a mess after being outside for a while!
Lynibis it's something I've all ways done since I was 15 years old. Yes I know I live on my own and run a farm but it makes me feel great. And smart and yes by the end of the day I do look a right sight. But I will never give up my makeup. I just had a birthday and got a lots of new makeup. Family and friends knows what I am in to. I would not feel right with out my make up on. I only take it of at night just before bed. No one in my family or friends have seen me with out makeup on. It's not heavy makeup it very light.
During the 12 weeks of full lockdown I only found myself wearing make up when in work (I’m a key worker). Otherwise I didn’t bother. Was actually nice to have fresh skin
Yes, I wear makeup every day. I need to as I have threadveins so need to calm them down. Once the foundation is applied next is lipstick. I look ill if I’m not wearing makeup.
I never wear make up normal so I haven’t worn it during lockdown. I like to get a tan on my face then be caked in make up.
I was the same - start of lockdown I think I went 90 days in a row without a bra or make up on
I don't wear make up. I only wear it when we are going somewhere special. I don't see the point in wearing it to run after my toddler. Even when I did work I never wore it. I used to when I first started teaching and then quickly stopped as I was so tired I needed the extra 30 minutes sleep instead!
When I was at secondary school, I prioritised sleep never bothered with make up because I had to be up at 6.30am, but since adulthood, I’ve never gone to work without make up on
sarahgreen15 I have always prioritised sleep, especially now I have a toddler, who has been up every hour at night for the past 4 nights! No amount of make up is covering my lack of sleep!
I only wear make up when I am getting ready to go out to meet friends or for a special occasion
I have been but only because I have been going to work. I don’t bother on the weekends or when I am not at work, give my skin a breather
Yes. I love make up. I wear it everyday unless I'm staying in all day. Day to day I wear light coverage foundation or tinted moisterizer, light bronzer, mascara & lipbalm. I will add eyeshadow etc if I'm going somewhere special. I just dont feel 'put together' otherwise. Iv always worn make up since my teens.
I don’t normally, and I doubt it’s something I’m willing to start up. It can be a costly habit, and I like saving money
Oh yes, especially if you get addicted like me luckily, I am a bargain hunter and I love finding really affordable make up that’s just as good as the expensive stuff
sarahgreen15 lol it’s handy being on here as I’ve seen loads of beauty deals. I’m so out of touch with makeup nowadays, which is a complete opposite to when I was a teen and wasting money on make up back then. If only we had an LD site back then - the money I may have saved
No but then I did not previously either, does not go well with my beard. But in lockdown I was nearly wearing clothes
Oh yes! I always do and always have worn make up, I'm one of those people that won't set foot outside without it lol
I don't understand why if you are leaving the house to go shopping, why you wouldn't wear make up to be honest, I think once you start lapsing in your routines you get lazy, it's like 'some' of these 'actor type people' some can be absolutely stunning when they are younger but give them a few years and they put on weight and start letting themselves go and I think, my goodness, the looks you had, why do this!! x
I eased off wearing make-up a couple of weeks into the lockdown and my skin has really gone down the drain! I guess it's because the usual routine, with all it's products, protected and nourished my skin. I been more careful in the last month, remembering moisturisers etc but it hasn't made a great difference. Its so noticeable that I've ordered a facial LED mask so fingers crossed.
