What's the Most Annoying Ad Currently on TV?

Ask a Question

What would you say are the worst advert/most annoying adverts that are currently on TV?

I mainly watch Netflix so donโ€™t see many adverts, but see some when the sports channels are on.

The ones 2 I hate most are - Voxi, all hail Voxi with the thumbs, and she screams ALL HAIL VOXIII. And the other one is Deliveroo, the woman screeches Wagamama in an irritating voice.

I guess it makes you remember them but they are so annoying!

I only ever see them when watching BT box stuff, but I actually quite like the Voxi one!

Currently there aren't any annoying me, but when they do, they really get to me!

Ads on U.K. TV channels have always looked embarrassing and cringe to me, I just can't stand them. If there's a country with even more detestable add then I don't want to see them. ๐Ÿ˜†

Jenny Eclair and the Vagisil advert. Everytime it comes on the TV it just makes me cringe. It used to be bad enough with all the different tampon ads but this takes it to a new level that I just don't think is necessary.

I have always been a bit scared to voice this opinion as old folk are often lampooned as being old fashioned and prudish but I absolutely hate those ads. I was brought up in an age when things like that were private and only discussed with your nearest and dearest. And what is wrong with that? Why does everything have to be out there so blatantly, it is so embarrassing. I cringe if those ads come on when I am in male company, especially non related like granddaughter's boyfriend.

There is plenty of info on the internet if needed, and while I am on the subject I really don't feel it is nice to have those topics posted on here either, not nice for the male members, save it for Mumsnet or similar.

Lynibis yes I completely see where you are coming from especially in the company of young men that you are not directly related to, and I would agree there is probably too many of these kinds of adverts on the TV. What I will say though is that a lot more men are more mature about these subjects and have wives/daughters themselves which they have probably had discussions about โ€˜femaleโ€™ problems and I would like to think that they have a mature outlook on those embarrassing adverts, as it is only natural, the same as there are a few adverts aimed at men that could be considered cringey! But not every man has that outlook I agree!

AliceBell64468 good point. I think that removing the stigma around โ€˜womenโ€™s stuffโ€™ and becoming confident rather than embarrassed to talk about it is a positive move. But also understand the discomfort around those you arenโ€™t close to.

Lynibis understand this completely. Must say though, when growing up I felt uncomfortable discussing my body and perfectly normal biological processes with family. I feel happy that young boys and girls nowadays may not have that same struggle and are able to discuss/ask questions with it becoming โ€˜normalisedโ€™.

Ah, just remembered the VI Poo ads aimed at women because apparently it's ok for the male population to use the toilet ๐Ÿ˜‚. What the heck just what the heck. Lol, this topic has really made me realise just how many ads irritate the life out of me, thanks AliceBell64468๐Ÿ˜‚

AliceBell64468 probably because they know they are the most talked about and therefore get more attention and word gets around, just like we are doing lol.

Disney has a lots of adverts made for kids. Most of them are expensive toys and when a kid see them they scream....Mommy buy this for me....

The adverts themselves are not annoying but it does annoy me that they advertise toys during the cartoons in the morning. Luckily my son is too young to notice but it means they see all the toys and then go mummy I want this!

Yes very well strategically placed by the advertisers to make sure all the children are begging for the newly released toys!

I can't think of any current TV ads that I like, but there are a few that I have to mute the sound on or change channels. For example, I really dislike the Rosland Guide to Buying Gold ads, there are a few variants, but you get the idea from this -

... I also really dislike the Direct Line adverts starring American actor Harvey Keitel. There have been quite a lot of ads with him playing the Winston Wolf character over the last 5 years and I haven't liked any of them

Okay I've got one (well, several on a series of adverts). They may not be normal adverts, but sponsor ads on Dave...

The Nationwide adverts with very unfunny comedians, all of which have incredibly annoying and grating voices!

Some of the most well-off people are the elderly, they are from a time with decent pension schemes and have generous pensions so from what I see a lot of daytime advertising is directly related to them be it funeral plans, incontinence products, stair lifts, mobility chairs, baths where you can sit down, charities for animal welfare or africa etc. It can be quite depressing if you watch a daytime quiz show when the adverts come on. Most of these adverts are humourless and dreadfully dull and as someone who hates to see animals in distress with open wounds etc I dread it when those adverts come on as I'm distracted thinking about the suffering of that animal. I don't see daytime tv at my own home as don't have a tv license but see at other houses and these adverts definitely make it easier to live without a tv license. I do watch itv catchup services at home on my computer but when the adverts come on I just mute the sound and check my emails etc for a few minutes and then drop back in which is easy to do. I have a browser plug in on chrome to remove youtube adverts so don't even know about what adverts they show.
