Wow What an Imaginative Way to Raise £ for Cancer
In the News
It's great to see a story, where someone so young, he was only 8 when he decided to grow his hair to be made into wigs for poorly children.
Two years latter & despite being teased about his hair. He has had 14 inches cut off & raises over £4,000 for a cancer charity. I think this is a fantastic achievement
One of the benefit of being young, and it's lovely and curly, it must have taken ages to wash and dry Good for him for preserving, especially as the article doesn't mention why he decided to do this.
My daughter donated her hair today was so proud of her she did race for life last week to with her school mates
That's fantastic, I think kids are so much more socially aware. You have inspired me to made a donation to Cancer Research
beccatavender thank you it was all because her great nan died last year and because of lockdown we couldn't go it was in Liverpool we live in Manchester
I am so sorry for your loss, it must have been dreadful. But you must be so proud of your daughter, being able to do somethIng so positive from that Leannexxx
Leannexxx your recent chat was closed as I pressed send of course you can give baby water it has to be cooled boiled kettle water, it actually helps with constipation and breaking wind too
Fully breastfed babies don't need any water until they've started eating solid foods. Formula-fed babies may need some extra water in hot weather.
davidstockport I phoned 111 was on the phone for a while to tell me someone will phone me back still waiting now went on the nhs website and it says I can give her boiled water so I did and she fell asleep that was at half 3 this morning normally she's asleep at 8 lol
Leannexxx I thought you had said the baby was ten weeks old, I thought it was reasonably common knowledge that babies under six months, do not need and should not be given water. Here are the views of two EXPERTS I hope others will read it too. https://www.insider.com/can-babies-drink-water-2018-2
I hope the baby is OK but I think you should think twice before giving any more water.
davidstockport yeah she is 10 weeks old and I only gave her a tiny bit I went on the nhs website
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/first-aid-and-safety/safety/safety-in-the-sun/
Leannexxx I read all sources of information, and haven't found any that approve of or recommend babies under six months old being given water, this one explains why babies under six months should not be given water (boiled or not) it shouldn't even be necessary for it to be considered. If it is suspected a baby is dehydrated medical attention should be sought. https://www.healthline.com/health/baby/why-cant-babies-have-water#water-intoxication
davidstockport your not supposed to give a baby bottles of water under 6 months a tiny bit of boiled water is ok
I think it's lovely that he did something like this, and a good way to raise money for charity.
Wow his hair grew quickly. What a wonderful achievement for someone so young. My daughter in law donated her beautiful thick long hair to charity too.
There is a UK company, which is a pioneer in scalp cooling system which help prevent hair loss in certain chemotherapy drugs. I know someone who used this during treatment and didn't loose her hair
Wow! At such a young age too! Ive been donating hair since around his age but I remember I crying during the first big chop
