Yorkshire Puddings.
Ask a Question
I normally get the Aunt Bessie's ready made ones, but I really want to try to make my own this Christmas .Do any of you guys make your own?.Are they hard to make?.
We've made them before, just with eggs milk and flour. Top tip, put some oil in the cupcake/muffin tray and put in the oven for a few minutes before you add the mixture and put that back in, makes sure the bottom cooks properly
Like has lornaae has said it’s just eggs milk and flour.

This is a brilliant recipe that I’ve used for years I also add some onion powder and thyme in mine
That recipe sounds perfect and it seems relatively simple too.I just need to buy some beef dripping.Thank you.
Your welcome. The only tip I would say is make sure the fat is smoking hot before adding the batter. Let us know how it goes
Aunt Bessie's are good and quick . But if making with a large meal (ie Xmas dinner ) when speed and convenience isn't paramount just make your own , only takes 2 mins extra time - and they will be individual . Just basic batter mix (with whatever you want to add ) and they'll all come out lovely , in different shapes and sizes (as we'll all put a bit more or less batter in each ) whereas Aunt Bessie has a robot to do that so they all end up boringly similar .
I always use Mary Berrys method. Works everytime. Cant beat making your own but I do have a pack of Tesco own brand frozen ones on freezer at all times.

my mum has always made them and I really don’t like homemade ones... just don’t think they ever get crispy enough without being burnt when they are homemade
Plus - shop ones cost 15p or something ridiculous in Aldi and I’m sure by the time you’ve got to buy ingredients it will cost more, plus the amount of time and effort, surely it’s is not worth it..
SarahBenne67061 Cost wise,I think you're right.I was curious to see if homemade ones taste better.
Mine always fall flat so I’m not risking it. Lol.
I’m not a fan of the frozen but the Aunt Bessie uncooked yorkies with the batter just in the foil are lovely!
Yorkshire puddings are just a basic batter mix (eggs, milk & Plain flour), the secret is getting a really hot baking tin that contains very hot oil, before adding the mix and cooking . An easy cheat is a Tesco Batter mix ( 2pks to make a tray of 12) just add an egg and water ,mix and cook, they come out lovely.
That's not a bad idea actually.I hadn't considered buying a batter mix. That might be the easiest option.
Dont forget if you have any left warm them up and have them with Jam, you'll thank me if you've never tried it before
I used to make my own but it's one thing that's just as good bought as homemade so just buy frozen now. Everything else on Christmas dinner is homemade including stuffing
The frozen ones are pretty good,I'm just curious to find out if the homemade ones taste any better.
I also use Aunt Bessies for standard roast but for Christmas I will make my own. James Martin recipe is the absolute best and it is pretty foolproof. (huge, impressive puds)
Make it the night b4 put in fridge to chill and make sure the oil is piping hot b4 putting in liquid
We make our own and we love them. Haven't eaten frozen ones for about a year now. Kids love helping to
