If You're Banned from Amazon, Where Do You Make Your Online Purchases?

Ask a Question

eBay? That's more for used stuff than moreso new, so getting oneself banned from Amazon (normally due to too many returns) does affect a customer from being unable to get deals only found on Amazon.

Some people thought Amazon was fine with returns, till they were punished for toying with them.

I guess if they think you are abusing their system, they have the right to ban you. I wasn't even aware they did this. I've never returned anything to Amazon, and have never had a problem with them. You read the description of a product and have the opportunity to ask questions relating to that item. You can clearly see the date they expect to deliver. Why then, would you make a habit of willy-nilly buying from them just to return the item, time after time?

They only ban if the customer does too many returns.

Do people really do this to the extent of being banned? Wow!! I think I’d have to message my mum with the links to buy for me & transfer her the money. 🤣 I’d do that on anything I needed quickly, in all honesty, many items can be found cheaper on other sites (especially when cashback can be applied) so if I was banned it would be the convenience I’d miss more than anything.

I find ebay has lots of new products, not the used it all used to sell. I use it a lot for ribbons etc and find it great. I didn’t know you could get banned from amazon 😱

Do they just ban you or do they give you a chance to discuss matters ?🤨

No, I see people saying they were banned so it's an interesting article to look at. Not many are.

I'm typically interested in things others aren't (which currency is the most stable and to invest, and so on).

I read somewhere before about them doing this.

That’s why I never have bothered requesting refund on glitches which have cost penny’s.

A few time I have had to contact them due to item being faulty but been ok so far touch wood been with them over 10 years as a prime member.

I use eBay too but a lot of items actually come from Amazon so have questioned the eBay seller and have been able to get refund on price difference instead of returning

If someone is taking the **** out returns then they should be banned from amazon. I would find another way to buy from amazon.

You couldn't just make a new account as their system would trigger, nor a bank card with your name. You could ask a family member to order it for you.

I've read comments of people who think Amazon is fine with returns. They are until it hits the limit.

PhilipMarc I never said I would create a new account, I would just find a way via family and friends. Most companies have limits which will make them flag up on system

I buy a lot from Amazon Warehouse and some of the stuff they send out is clearly a different product that the customer has returned and not been properly checked by Amazon. I ordered a 27.5" mountain bike wheel but instead got some old rusty 26" wheel. You feel very awkward dealing with it as you wonder if they will think I am returning the wrong wheel. I ordered a backpack and pannier set but only the panniers came as I guess the original customer nicked the backpack. I ordered a action camera but when I got it it was nothing like the spec of the camera and I suspect the original purchaser carefully took out the better parts and replaced them with a very low end generic action camera circuit board. I can only guess.

So I suspect the people who are getting banned aren't just getting banned for returning goods there may be others who are returning incomplete items or even switched products.

Never underestimate the vile nature of some people, I remember hearing of how charity shops often have a lot of shoplifting. Its bad enough stealing from a regular shop but reducing the income of charities which might be helping dying children etc seems appalling.

I hate returning stuff to Amazon, if I've ordered a bargain from Amazon Warehouse and its turned up faulty or incomplete and I have the hassle of returning it I'm never pleased. In the last month I've returned about 3 items, a 16GB micro sd card that came faulty, the pannier pack I mentioned and a wifi USB dongle that wouldn't work correctly and had no updated drivers. The wifi dongle came in well worn packaging so I think Amazon had sent that out to many customers and had it back multiple times.

Fortunately, there are still a lot of other websites were I could still purchase the items I want. I often buy directly from the manufacturer. As yet, I haven't returned anything to Amazon, so I shouldn't be on their naughty list.

Amazon used to be my go to, but recently I haven't been shopping so much via Amazon as I have been using cashback sites and I have buying more from EBay (new) as it's cheaper . Plus more retailers have a online presence.

You will find that many of the EBay stores also have Amazon marketplace stores (with the same name ) which use the Amazon Prime delivery . In fact I've had Ebay stuff delivered by Amazon in the past .

Whilst most of the time the prices are the same they can differ due to Amazon dynamic pricing (which is an algorithm used to up or lower prices due to supply and demand).

So always do your research if you want the best price (as I always do !) . See you learn a little every day on Latest Deals !

I heard of them doing this a few years back and it worried me but I have to say that I have returned a load of items since joining many years ago - all genuine returns and reasons - and can't fault them. I do most of my purchases with them mind - no transport and living remotely- so it's great for me and means the Prime delivery costs aren't too much of a rip off..
