Zero-Waste Grocery Shopping from Tesco

I think it is a brilliant idea, but it doesn't say how much it will cost the customer, also it appears to only be on big brand items, which would make my shopping even more expensive, so unless it is also offered on supermarket own products and doesn't cost a fortune, I would be reluctant to use it. I'm all for helping the environment but it also has to be affordable for me and if it is only on big brands then I can't afford to do it.

I think bio-degradable is better than re-usable with both collection and cleaning requiring extra energy and resources. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd like to see a breakdown of the benefits of refilling.

If I'm on a walk and take a banana with me I throw away the banana skin because it bio-degrades and don't want it going to landfill. Looking online some people say that is the right thing to do others say its the wrong thing, it's very hard to work out sometimes the best way of helping the environment. So many different viewpoints out there.

So if the items are on reusable containers does the consumer pay more or less?

This is a brilliant idea and would like to see many more supermarkets to introduce this. I know its not for everyone but there is the option there for those who would prefer to shop zero waste

I do get deliveries from Tesco at the moment and have done for some time but I won't be doing that. It sounds expensive and I would worry about the cleanliness of the products involved. Can you imagine getting your tomato sauce in a plastic bag - very difficult to transfer into a sauce bottle!
