Sukhothai Harrogate opened nearly 10 years ago, bringing genuine Thai cuisine to North Yorkshire’s shrewd foodies.
Since opening in 2010, the Harrogate branch of Sukhothai has helped instil the Thai restaurant’s renowned reputation for quality, authentic food and service.
The continuing popularity of Sukhothai is the loving result of the fiercely passionate head chef and owner Ban Kaewkraikhot’s drive and ambition. The brand and its various restaurants have become famous across the region, for its delicious food, outstanding, personable service and its pioneering approach to sharing Thai food with the British public. In case you didn’t know, the name ‘Sukhothai’, which translates as translates into English as ‘The Dawn of Happiness’, has a personal connection for Ban. Sukhothai is Ban’s birthplace and is located just over 240 miles north of Bangkok and was the old capital of Thailand. A regular listing in the prestigious Good Food Guide and Harden’s, plus recognition in The Times and The Sunday Times and the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Oliver Awards, Sukhothai is now synonymous with bringing award-winning Thai food to the people of Yorkshire.
The restaurant recently unveiled its Christmas menu and includes bright dishes that make the festive season a worthwhile reason to head to Sukhothai for a little bit of Ban’s festive hospitality. Highlights include the ‘Drunken Tiger’, an eight ounce steak in a spicy Thai herb sauce with fine beans, and red and green peppers, while the special vegetarian menu includes premium dishes such as the ‘Gang Kiew Wan Park’, a Thai green curry made with coconut milk, tofu, fine beans and courgette.
