This contest is for a metrical sonnet and is open to writers internationally, anywhere in the world. Sonnets can be Shakespearean, petrarchan, spenserian, rhymed, or slant-rhymed. Blank verse is fine, as long as the sonnet form is clearly identifiable. We’ll consider tetrameter, hexameter, etc. as well as pentameter. Some metrical variation is fine, but don’t forget the volta!
Submissions open September 30th and close November 30th, 2020. Winners will be announced in January and published on February 1st, 2021. Also up to seven honorable mention sonnets will be published.
No entry fee and no simultaneous submissions please. Prize payment via Paypal only. $350 top prize.
Previously published work accepted as long as you have the rights.
