Middleton Lodge is a restored Georgian retreat set in 200 acres of privately-owned rural North Yorkshire. Located on the outskirts of Richmond the estate is ideally situated for attractions such as Richmond Castle, Bowes Museum and High Force Falls, but Middleton Lodge is still far enough away from the hustle and bustle for you to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside. Take in the surrounding views with the Swaledale walking routes, or explore the gorgeous Middleton Lodge grounds from their estate bicycles.
With 45 unique bedrooms, alongside the Treatment Rooms and two Restaurants, it’s the perfect place for a countryside escape. The bedrooms have been individually designed by the estate owners, James and Rebecca Allison, each complete with handpicked, stylish, rustic interiors, and a neutral, laid-back palette throughout.
As well as a one-night stay in one of their rustic suites, the winner can also expect to be wined and dined in Middleton Lodge’s new restaurant, Forge. Discover the five-course tasting menu crafted by Head Chef Gareth Rayner, tailored to the seasons and inspired by local produce from the surrounding estate. Expect dishes such as roasted hen of the woods, chicken wing, black garlic, confit egg yolk and caramelised apple with brown butter ice cream and duck egg custard. Each course will too be paired with a glass of wine from the hand-crafted wine flight, curated by the estate’s very own sommelier.
Breakfast is also included in the prize, so after a restful night’s sleep in your cosy bed, head down to The Coach House to enjoy a hearty breakfast – try the beetroot and chia seed pancakes with coconut yoghurt and berries, or go all out with the ‘Full Yorkshire’ with a pot of steaming Darjeeling tea. The Coach House serves food all day, so you can also enjoy lunch and dinner in their comfy restaurant or fireside snug should you wish. And while you’re there, why not pamper yourself with a massage, manicure or facial in their soothing treatment rooms?
