Nothing magic about these sponges 😅 Just a regular sponge without the abrasive surface 🤔

Hi HP they are not a sponge they are more like a very fine sandpaper block and they do work actually - surprise surprise!

Melamine foam acts like a porous, super-fine sandpaper — with lots of tiny little holes all throughout.

When combined with water, the foam grabs onto micro-particles of dirt and debris. (A melamine sponge works best when it is damp… not wet!)

Since melamine is an open-cell foam, it is incredibly flexible and can get into small spaces, cracks, and crevices much more easily than a traditional sponge can.

I ordered these defo not as good as the branded sponge but the amount you have for the price makes up for the fact they break easily.

The secret behind these types of erasers is a material commonly called melamine foam. With just a little water, melamine foam can dig in and destroy stains that other products can't touch.

nicolajaynehend A few years ago, Internet rumors spread that melamine foam erasers could cause serious health problems because they contained formaldehyde and had the potential to cause chemical burns. Check out Snopes.com for the outcome -- and a word to the wise: Don't go rubbing powerful abrasives on your face.

I had understood that the original "magic sponges' never needed replacing, thought I must admit, I thought that was a far fetched hope in itself.

These are pretty inexpensive though and worth a shot at that price.

These are brilliant. I have used before, and they even got felt tip removed from an oak table with just a wipe.

Hope these are similar to the branded ones, I've given it a go at that price. Got some off eBay last year and they worked really well but disintegrated pretty quickly. Thanks OP

in these days of trying to be more environmentally friendly - are these sponges compostable ? i know they are good and therefore no chemicals but do the bits that get broken off cause damage to the environment?
