It's the question I am asked the most: Is Amazon Prime worth it?
Here are the 8 Key Benefits
(30 day free trial - ldeals.uk/prime-free-trial)
- One day and same-day delivery
- Prime Video
- Prime Music
- Free Kindle Books
- Prime Day Deals
- Prime Photos
- Try Before You Buy on Clothing
- Free Twitch Subscription
One day and same-day delivery
Amazon Prime costs £7.99 per month. The first and main benefit is the unlimited one day and same-day delivery service you get. If you order two items a month or more, it's worthwhile just for this. Prime delivery is more reliable as its fulfilled by Amazon and opens the opportunity to buy cheaper products where high postage would have made it unfeasible.
Prime Video
Similar to Netflix, Prime Video has thousands of top TV shows and films with new exclusive titles coming out every week. You can watch it on as many devices as you like and download them for offline viewing. Netflix costs £9.99 per month, but here you're getting Prime Video included in with...
Prime Music
Similar to Spotify or Deezer, Prime Music gives you unlimited music streaming (ad-free). All your favourite bands and artists are on here. There's Prime Music apps for your phone, tablet and computer. Download playlists for when you're running outside, or listen to some made by others. Spotify costs £5.99 a month, but with Amazon you're getting it all included.
- Note - Amazon also sells "Amazon Music Unlimited". This is a separate service for which you have to pay extra for. What's the difference? Prime Music has about 2 million tracks. Amazon Music Unlimited has about 10 million. Only Prime Music is included with your Prime membership. There is a separate 30-day free trial of Amazon Music Unlimited if you're interested.
Free Kindle Books
If you have a Kindle device (or the free apps for your phone, tablet or desktop) you get access to thousands of free Kindle eBooks. It's called Prime Reading. However, there's also the Lending Library which gives you one free eBook per month. Then there's Kindle First, which gives you another free eBook every month of new titles.
Prime Day Deals
Amazon Prime Day is a sales event in July. Similar to Black Friday but just for Amazon, Prime members get exclusive access to big discounts across all categories. For a week or more, top branded goods are reduced. Smart speakers, coffee machines, 4K TVs, fashion, beauty and more. For the rest of the year, Prime members also get 30-minutes early access to 'Lightning Deals'. These are time sensitive, limited stock deals from retailers. For example, Tassimo might reduce 100 coffee machines by 50%... but only for an hour. As a Prime member you get first dibs.
Prime Photos
Tired of running out of photo storage on your phone? Amazon will back them up for you in the cloud. You'll never run out of storage again. You get unlimited online storage, something that Apple iCloud costs as much as £9.99 per month. This is only available for Prime Members.
Try Before You Buy on Clothing
Will it fit? Don't panic. With Amazon Prime you can order clothing, try it on, and return it for free if not. You get 6 days to try on the items and you will only be charged for the items you decide to keep. You have to select "Wardrobe" items, just have a Google.
Free Twitch Subscription
If you play video games you'll know Twitch. It's like YouTube for live-streaming video games. Normally, there are lots of adverts. But with Amazon Prime, there are less, and you get free games and free in-game loot.

Prime Music is not worth anything, it's nothing like Deezer. I tried searching for many songs, they are either not available or are crappy covers. The compilation albums are all covers also. Perhaps it has changed but I doubt it! You also get free in-game items re: Twitch
Yes l agree Mr blue sky elo. I got the king singer's you can get all the music you want for free on utube. And amazon is always discounting so thay can sell you crap and food is expensive l shop around and get the best deals on everything
Glad it’s helpful! Definitely worth checking out some of the extra things to make sure you’re getting the most value from it
Great informative guide, already knew most of these but a couple of useful tips in there to help me get the most out of it
Does prime music cost extra or is it included? Because im a prime member but prime music keeps offering me plans at various prices.
Prime Music is included. Confusingly, Amazon recently launched a new plan called "Music Unlimited".
- Prime Music has about 2 million songs (included in Amazon Prime)
- Music Unlimited has about 10 million songs (which you have pay extra for - they also offer a free trial)
I dont have prime but anything i need through prime so i dont pay delivery i ask my sister to order it for me and collect it from her house
Thank you for sharing this, I have Prime and didn't know half of these, I've also looked at how much I've saved since July 2018 and it's a huge £263.06!! Definitely worth every penny!!
JawToTheFloor Assuming you're a paying Prime member, login to Amazon then go to this page.
It will show you something like this:
Not a fan..... I see it gets pushed on here but I already have free Spotify and Netflix so not keen to pay for what I see as lump sum for delivery that encourages me to shop with a morally questionable conglomerate....
thanks very much for sharing this I now know what exactly is included and not the music is def confusing but this post has sorted that
I have Prime as wasn’t aware about Pfime Photos. This is s super feature. Thanks very much for sharing.
I cant get out sometimes for a couple of weeks so for me Amazon prime is a God send x I often use Amazon Pantry which is 2.99 a box (great boxes if you are moving) and you can get free delivery on that if you choose 4 things from a huge list of day to day item which I find always has something that I need & they have discount vouchers & good offers too x I live nr. SherWood Forest so don’t have the city benefits of same day delivery but for example I made an order on Sat 1am and it was delivered by 12pm Saturday so the delivery is pretty amazing x Also its half price if you are a student/adult student xx I got rid of sky packages and just pay £10 for skysat for the pause/record option and pay for Prime with the upgraded music, Netflix & use now tv so I can can buy a Sky Cinema voucher when theres a load of new films I’d like to watch - I save over £40pm doing it that way and get loads more benefits xx I also pay for Apple storage so thanks for telling me about Amazon photo, I’ll be sorting that
And if you have a Firestick/TV you get easier access to many of the benefits! Xbox also gives you Amazon Prime Apps.
My FireTV is great but they removed my purchase of Perfect Player from the store, no notification or refund!
I now sideload PP and subscribe to an IPTV service which gives me all Sky Channels and hundreds from other countries for £11pm
I find this strange as I had to pay for my prime video subscription which I ended up cancelling x
Nice to know that with my prime membership I can benefit of all this things, I had no idea. Thanks for sharing xz
Hi Tom, thanks for sharing what Prime covers.
I mainly used it for the books as I do read A LOT of them. Lol
It is good but it is still £79 a year or £7.99 a month. Then you end up buying more stuff from there. OK for what you get but not really a deal
THE LINK TAKES YOU TO AMAZON TRY FOR 1 WEEK FOR 99 P THEN FULL CHARGES THEREAFTER £7.99!!!!
If you're a student you only pay £3.99 per month. Also, you can share your Prime Membership with other members of your household. Not sure why Amazon has done this, surely they would make more if each member of the household paid £7.99 per month each?
I get more out of Amazon than I do my TV license. Amazon Video is better than the TV license as well.
