£2 a bottle is not a bad price - always buy them in these packs of 3 🙂

Another non-deal aka Amazon selling something for the same price as everybody else.

£2 in Asda, £2 in Lloyd's Pharmacy and £2 in Wilkos. It's £2.15 in Boots and Superdrug. That's because it's usually around £2 in most places. Also, you know none of those places charge £7.99 a month for being a member to get it at that price?

Prime delivery IS NOT FREE. Nothing is free if you are paying a fee at some point to get it.

Everyone with Prime will know exactly what is meant by 'Free Prime Delivery'. Even those without Prime should know, unless they've only just returned from planet Mars.

Johnny It's not free. Prime is not free.

Here's an Amazon product page screen shot (for Prime Account holders). Note where it says 'Free Delivery'.

If you were correct, then Amazon would not be permitted to say 'Free Delivery' under UK consumer protection legislation. However you are incorrect, and Amazon can and do say it.

Consumers aren't that stupid and aren't being mislead.

As I said, everyone knows what is meant by 'Free Prime Delivery'.

Is the second half of Buy One Get One Free, free?

Johnny That'll be wrong and right from a subjective point of view vs what the law says. The fact is, it's not free. If somebody was already paying for Prime and it only included the video service but one day, unlimited delivery was added with no extra cost, I could accept that being free. However, it's just a package of services and one of them is the delivery of certain items. A phone isn't free when it costs more for a contract with the handset vs a sim without. I've seen people saying they got a free phone though. They really are that stupid. We'll be here all day again with this if we're not careful 😁

I just noticed your question. A lot of the time, no. Products on bogof offers are based on the RRP. You know the drill. Consumers are stupid though. People like Martin Lewis wouldn't be making millions from giving out advice if they weren't.

Q. Is the second half of Buy One Get One Free, free?

A. A lot of the time, no.

So by deduction, some of the time, yes.

If the free part of the BOGOF offer is free although you had to pay something in order to get it free, that seems very similar to an Amazon Prime subscription and the unlimited free delivery that comes with it.

One could argue that any shop offering free delivery doesn’t really offer it free, and that it’s built into the selling price of the product. But then again some stores offering Free Delivery on Everything use the free delivery as a loss-leader service to attract customers where they lose on some orders and gain on others.

So what is free? The air we breathe perhaps. But I bet someone somewhere is planning to bottle it and charge us for it. They’ve already done it with the water we drink.

Johnny There's another one for the gullable consumer - tap water, bottled. I envy people who have bypassed that expense completely by living from the land. I met a bloke on Route 66 who does that. I don't know if he drinks the water directly or boils it first, but either way, he's paying less than I do for it.
