Not keen on having the mother in vinegar prefer clean cider vinegar. There is some evidence that the mother is good for you (it acts like a probiotic) but others may be sensitive and feel ill consuming the mother (it is a cloud of yeast/bacteria). It's important to point out standard cider vinegar has most of the same benefits and is more appealing to drink in my opinion. Also there are other products that are better probiotics for far less money. Lastly with the mother in the vinegar the vinegar will continue to change where as cider vinegar with the mother filtered out is a consistent product that will stay the same for many months. I've had to throw out older organic cider vinegar with the mother as it was in a horrible state, I've read that is a good time to use that liquid to start another vinegar but don't know the details but I think you can use apple scraps that you would normally waste plus more water to add to the jar.

Thanks for the info. Have never thought about making my own before, although I know I have an ample supply of apples nearby. I’ll look it up

hspexy I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I keep meaning to do it myself but never get around to it. Makes more sense to do it yourself if it will be healthier and much cheaper to do it that way.

BonzoBanana yes no problem 😊 My last purchase of the Braggs vinegar was cheap - I only get it on offer (you can usually find the smaller bottle somewhere for about £1.50)
