The Canon PIXMA TS3751i is an all-in-one printer built for homes and small spaces where you need printing, scanning and copying without fuss. You get wireless setup at the touch of a button, and you can print or scan directly from your smartphone or tablet using the Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint, or Mopria for Android. It prints at 7.7ppm for black text and 4ppm for colour, which is perfectly decent for everyday documents, homework and photo printing at home, and the 60-sheet paper tray means you're not constantly refilling it.

The FINE cartridges deliver crisp text and vibrant images up to 4800x1200dpi, so your photos look rich and detailed rather than grainy or dull. Manual duplex printing lets you print on both sides to reduce paper usage, and borderless printing means your photos can go edge-to-edge without white margins. Access Point Mode lets you connect directly to the printer even without Wi-Fi, which is handy if your internet is playing up. It handles paper up to A4 and 275gsm, fits neatly on a desk, and works with the PIXMA Print Plan subscription so cartridges arrive before you run out.

The advice I've always seen especially if you use a printer a lot is compare the cost of ink between printers rather than the printer itself. The cost of ink for some printers is ridiculously expensive and it can get blurred with subscription ink plans and other complications. Sometimes its better to pay a little more for a printer to get much cheaper ink over the lifetime of the product. A full set of XL cartridges for this is up to £60 and that provides around 400 b/w A4 printouts or 300 colour printouts. That seems ridiculously expensive to me. My current printer costs about £5.49 for 4 b/w cartridges. I rarely use colour output. These compatible cartridges print out more than the basic Epson cartridges but not as much as the XL versions Epson produce. I think I would get around 250-300 A4 b/w print outs per cartridge so about 1000-1200 for £5.49. Be careful often the printer hardware is subsidised by the huge cost of the cartridges and many modern printers have no cheap third party suppliers of ink cartridges.
