Cartomancy is used now as a divination tool, but it is not tarot. It has similarities but the reader of cartomancy does not have a set of rules or explained meanings to their cards, in this book it is a simple piquet deck with the 2-6s removed. It is more of a simplistic guideline for learning. Anyone can learn the simplistic meanings of the cards and put them into action. A skilled reader is not reading the cards but the individual. The cards are no more than a visual aide for the individual getting the reading. Cartomancy started in the fourteenth century with what people call the “Gypsies”, but we do not like that term and prefer Traveller or Roma.
