Product DescriptionA hybrid cactus of the Echinopsis family, Chamaelobivia is a clumping, hardy cactus that produces a profusion of large, bright red blooms in early summer.
Also known as the peanut cactus due to the appearance of its offsets, it’s a great indoor plant and will also overwinter outside in the UK with little more protection than a cold greenhouse.Chamaelobivia is a tough, hardy 'garden' cactus that will sit happily in drier areas inside and out. Easy to care for and a real eye-catcher, if you don't have a garden you can grow this cactus perfectly well as an indoor houseplant. Is it hardy? Yes definitely! Able to withstand temperatures down to -7°C, this is a really robust little houseplant that will tolerate most conditions that are thrown at it.Thriving in pots of gritty compost in a cold greenhouse over winter, it's able to withstand low temperatures when kept on the dry side as it’s the wet rather than the cold that will promote the demise of this cactus - we've grown them successfully in pots outside in Lincolnshire!
This popular cactus has surprisingly large flowers which can grow up to 6 cm wide. To bloom in May, Chamaelobivia needs a cold period over winter after which you'll be rewarded with flowers in bright shades of red, pink, yellow, white or orange (depending on the type). This cactus has an upright growth habit and produces multiple offsets which will bloom profusely. Flowers are up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter, brightly coloured, and tinged with iridescent highlights in the sun.Place
Chamaelobivia outside in your rock or gravel garden directly in the ground or in a pot on your balcony - it's so easy to grow that it’s even great for kids to get their first taste of gardening.Supplied as a single plant in a 13cm pot, flower colour will vary, and we cannot guarantee the colour that you will receive.
