Without any proof I think it’s safe to ignore the £1 abroad comment.
Johnny Poor quality shoes . Most asia wears them as so cheap in Asia . Obscene profits for importers . Poor sole and upper , just step in a muddy puddle or a nail and you are done . Don't take it personally it is only about the shoes

Converse are not cheap in Asia, even in the Converse outlet stores, and nowhere near £1.
Nor do "most asia wears them".

If you step on a nail in any rubber soled shoes, Converse or not, the nail is just as likely to penetrate.
