Echo Dot 3rd Generation - Back down to £29.99 at Screwfix and Amazon
The Echo Dot - cheapest anywhere at the moment from Screwfix and Amazon . Although I dare say Currys ,John Lewis , Argos etc will be pricematching very shortly .
Combine this with my other Screwfix deal (Toilet seat ) and you can control all your Smart home stuff by voice whilst have your morning constitutional .
8am update - Amazon have price matched ! I suspect others will follow suit .
I have a google home are the echo dots any better? I keep thinking if getting one!!
I think they do the same thing on a different system . I have an Echo Plus downstairs (bigger/better speaker with integral hub ) and a Dot upstairs . They can operate plugs and lights , heating etc as well as the music . Not sure what the google home does (similar I think ) but I don't think they work together .
Someone more tech oriented may be able to give you better advice .
You will love it - until she starts playing with it and realise all the things it can do you don't really appreciate it . Although it can be a tad annoying at times when it starts a conversation with the tele !
Got one of these and love it apart from when alexa starts talking to you and gives you a shock. She started singing for some reason the other day !!
I've had mine a year now , and it does learn your voice better over time , so less of it talking to the tele these days !
I have 2 of these now. Think there great. Bought 1 for my grandson too, as he was none stop asking mine questions 
This is a great deal for this Alexa, an aiming to have one in every room so it's like we have surround sound. Thank you for sharing this with us all!
You might like one to be an Echo (currently £69.99 ) or better still an Echo Plus (currently £99.99 ) . Both have larger and better speakers if you like your music , the Echo Plus also has the advantage of a built in ZigBee hub .
