BrianKarl Personally I'm not at all bothered by these devices listening.

The microphone on your Alexa smart speaker is always active (by default, at least) and is constantly monitoring voices in your home in order to hear its wake word. (That's how smart speakers work).

However Amazon only processes, and records, what the software determines to be genuine Alexa commands.

Amazon states that no audio is stored or sent to its servers unless the smart speaker detects the wake word.

IF I was bothered, I would simply just turn the mic off for a bit. But I've never seen the need to.

I'm sure if anyone really wanted to listen into and record my daily activities they would soon find it pretty dull, and pointless.
