What we say:
The EC-401 is LTD’s mid-range take on their own classic Eclipse model, itself a modern derivation of that all-conquering Mahogany Single Cut design from the fifties.
Keeping its feet firmly planted in the modern metal and hard rock world, this well-priced guitar has several features that help it stand out both visually and sonically from the crowd.
The EC-401 is built in the expected manner for a guitar of this design, with a set Mahogany neck joined to a Mahogany body. The EC-401 simplifies things by dropping one of the customary control knobs for a total of three: two volumes and a tone. These are for use with the top drawer EMG active humbucker set: a combination of an 81 in the bridge and a 60 at the neck. Heavy rock and metal tones are a given but the 60 can also deal out a range of more subtle tones, all with that great low noise floor of the active circuit.
Upgrades from the EC-256 model include Grover tuners and 24 Extra Jumbo frets. This machine is built to rock hard and is beautiful in Olympic White.
