Super Cheap Family Days Out! 7 Things to Do
**Refreshed and updated 5th September **
Ideas and deals for cheap days out and where to look for new ideas and bargains for days out with the family.
Great safari park and we are actually going this weekend for my little boys birthday treat. They have an offer of £10 per person Monday - Friday from now until 25th October. Good for grandparents or if you have younger children in morning nursery. Under 3's and accompanying careers go free as well.
Some good offers on here at the moment. If you have little one's not in full time school yet, take advantage of the adult & toddler weekday ticket for just £15 (No Gift Aid) Get entry for an adult and up to two 5 year olds until 30th September - must book online for this.
They also have a family offer all day every day until 30th September for 2 adults and 2 children for £50 (Excluding gift aid) Saving you £13.64 - book online for this price.
Again some great offers on here at the moment.
Online saver tickets are £28pp when booked in advance or if you go before 14th October, get 4 tickets for only £99. You can also choose to upgrade to an all inclusive ticket which gets you a meal deal with unlimited soft drinks, pizza and pasta at the City Walk Pizza Pasta Buffet which is a great saving as food and drink can be really expensive. Prices for all inclusive are £36 for a child and £40 for an adult and both include entry as well.
Little Bird (Kids Discounts)
Little Bird have loads of ideas for discounted days out, lots have been posted on site already but worth checking them out and seeing what's on available in your area. Current offers on their website include free entry to the London Home Building & Renovating Show, Cheap Family Theatre Tickets, 20% off Oxygen Freejumping, 25% off Diggerland tickets plus lots more.
Get half price entry for an adult or child with Carex soaps and shower gels. Just buy enough packs for the whole family and get half price entry until 20th May 2020. Valid at Warwick Castle, Sea Life Centres and Alton Towers
Not the first place you would think of looking but set your location and have a look under the "Things To Do" category. Lots of cheap and discounted things to do tailored to your area and look out for the discount codes to make things even cheaper. I set my location to Liverpool and found £20 worth of rides for £12 at local theme park, trampolining for £6, indoor go karting for half price and a hop on hop off ferry and bus tour for £16.95. If you are going on holiday, change your location and see what you can find do do cheaply in that area too.
I discovered this site purely by accident last year and have bought lots from them. They negotiate so many tickets at discounted prices for days out and activities but some sell out super quick. Some examples are Circus Rio Family tickets for £7.50, Chill Factor Manchester family pass for £45 instead of £77, Portsmouth historic dockyard year long family pass for £42.50 instead of £68. They often have Flamingo Land, Blackpool Zoo & Knowsley Safari PArk tickets for half price but these go fast so worth checking every morning if there is something that you want.
Quite a few offers at Tenpin. 50% off bowling & drinks on a Tuesday, 2 games of bowling with a burger meal for £10pp on a Thursday, 25% bowling & food & drink on Friday's. They also do 2 games of bowling and a meal for kids for £9.19 or £13.99 for adults. Book online to get the best prices and reserve your lane.
Get 4 tickets to Drayton Manor for £88 / £22 per person instead of £28 each on the day. Loads for everyone to do here with Thomas Land, bigger thrill rides and the zoo too. This offer is valid up until the 2nd of November when they close for the season so one to book for the upcoming October half term maybe?
Another good tip is to follow places you want to go on Facebook and Instagram as they sometime post flash deals on there so worth following and checking before you buy.
I am very lucky to have this on my doorstep and you don't get discounts for Chester Zoo. The best thing to do is book as far in advance as you can and choose a Monday or Tuesday as they are cheaper than weekends. The orange days on the calendar are the cheapest at £20 per adult and £15.45 for children. Also take a picnic as food can be very expensive and also if you book online, consider buying an unlimited soft drink cup for £9.99 saving 12.5% on buying on the day which gives you free soft drinks at all the kiosks around the zoo - its a huge place and little legs get tired and very thirsty!
Tom spoke about this on ITV Lorraine: Buy train tickets with national rail and use their Days Out Guide to get 2-for-1 on all the biggest attractions nationwide. This include LEGOLAND, Thorpe Park, Cadbury World and more. Specific offers are available for each city, and so it's worth having a read.
Quick Travel Tips
- Family & Friends Railcard - Going by train? Get a family railcard for 60% off kids tickets and 33% off adult tickets. Go to the railcard website and use their handy calculator to work out how much you can save.
- Trainline - Download Trainline app and book train tickets as far in advance as possible. You can save up to 80% by booking ahead. Plus, with Trainline app, if you get an e-ticket you can instantly apply for refunds should your train be delayed.
- Megabus - Coach is nearly always cheaper than train (unless you follow the steps above!). Megabus has discount fares from just £1.50 across the country. However, it can be a bit of a nightmare to travel as a family on a coach, so you may need some bargain toys to keep the children busy.
