Thank you for posting this excellent deal, my son has spotify Premium and has managed to claim it.
I feel so old when I see these sorts of things. Do most people use these to assist them in the home....like control central heating, turn lights on etc? What else do you use them for? I'd love to think I could use one in my home but the wifi is temperamental. If the wifi went off would that mean the heating simply could not be controlled or would the heating go off? My head hurts thinking about it. I should move somewhere where the wifi is more reliable 
HappyTravels lol no you can still manually control lights , heating etc.. I play music on mine..and ask random question, so do the kids
HappyTravels I feel exactly the same, it's all so confusing! If you get to understand things, they're great. But just when you think you've cracked it, they throw curve balls like this at you!
But I think you need smart appliances to be able to connect with it. I might be totally wrong and I'm sure someone on here will know if I'm wrong and hopefully tell us

Is it a yearly plan you have to subscribe or can I cancel after paying the 9.99 once.
I have Spotify but it’s not premium so could I get it for £4.99 if I switch to premium then when you get the device could you cancel it.i have it on my phone and iPad only I don’t have any students at home my 3 children are grown ups
If you aren't a student then it starts at £9.99 so you could do that for a month, get the Google speaker and then cancel if you wanted to yes....

There's a link when you sign up that you can click straight through for it, don't have to wait for an email with a code (I didn't get one!) Just make sure the Total to pay is at zero before you complete your purchase.
Thats correct if you click check availability it took me to link my Google account with Spotify and then at the end of checkout process the £49.99 discount was applied.
