Great price but just a warning, i recently bought a pair to replace my 10 year old ones and the blades don’t touch. I have thick hair and because the blades don’t touch it doesn’t straighten my hair - took forever to get a refund!
Given the thousands of excellent reviews on Amazon, it sounds like you were just unlucky to get a faulty pair. Bad luck. 
Who did you buy from, and why did the refund take so long?
Johnny To be fair I bought it directly from ghd and the reviews on their site did say don’t buy the original styler as the blades dont touch. I thought it can’t be that bad so I bought them and the reviews were correct. 
See that gap ^ as small as it looks, for someone with thick hair I actually had to press really hard to get it to straighten and then my hand started to hurt
!
The refunds probably was delayed to Covid but really stressing when its a refund not just of a couple of pounds!
Maybe the Amazon ones are different.. ghds used to be soo good!

GHDs sold by Amazon will be the same as those sold by GHD. I guess whether you like them or not will depend on your hair thickness and the strength in your hand. Some of the reviewers on Amazon mention they have the same problem you had. Others love them. GHD say it's not a fault in the design.
Johnny I think they have changed their designs since a takeover/merger. There design has definitely changed since I bought it years ago!
