Why not have a go at making these super simple shortbread biscuits - three ingredients and you can get the kids to decorate them with left over melted Easter chocolate or sprinkles?
Ingredients
125g/4oz butter
55g/2oz caster sugar, plus extra to finish
180g/6oz plain flour
Method
- Heat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.
- Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth.
- Stir in the flour to get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and gently roll out until the paste is 1cm/½in thick.
- Cut into rounds or fingers and place onto a baking tray. Sprinkle with caster sugar and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack.

Good old ASDA, wonderfully bright mixing bowls and batter bowls, retro and full of colour. Excellent for brightening up a dull kitchen. Lovely.
Looks like some great baking deals, I’m in need of a new mixing bowl! Your recipe reminds me I haven’t made shortbread in a long time. If anyone is looking at it and wondering how they’re meant to fit it to chill in the fridge, you can wrap the whole ball of mixture in cling film and put it in the fridge for a bit longer, roll it out quickly and straight in the oven. It won’t be as perfect but should still be slightly more chilled and hold its shape more
Interesting idea, I usually just remove stuff from one shelf and a mixing bowl fits in just right.
