I used to sell vacuum cleaners for a living in my youth (Kirby) and a good solid multi layer bagged cleaner is much better for allergy sufferers than none bagged. May cost a bit more in the long run, but from my experience with the Kirby bag system compared to what Dyson offer, quality bagged every time if you suffer from allergies. Same for most reputable companies offering filtered bags these days including Hoover.

However if you can find a good Kirby second hand for under £100, go for it, as long as you can get the bags you are laughing. Nothing comes close to their power or versatility.
