You work hard at the gym, so get a protein powder that works hard for you

Isolated whey protein is the most popular protein powder in the world of fitness at the moment, and there’s good reason for it. Optimum Nutrition is made primarily from whey isolate protein (with a little concentrate), allowing it to pack 24g of the purest, muscle-building protein per serving, with a lot less of the fat, cholesterol and lactose.

This tasty chocolate protein powder contains all 9 of the essential amino acids that your body needs to build after exercise. It’s easy for your body to digest, too and encourages lean muscle growth.

What are the benefits of protein powder?

Protein powder can help you reach your daily protein goals quickly and easily. Most people who do not exercise and eat a relatively healthy diet will reach their protein goals without really trying, but if you exercise, that number goes up and a protein powder could really help.

What is the difference between concentrated whey protein and isolated whey protein?

All whey proteins are considered an excellent protein source, but the final processing step determines whether it is concentrated or isolated whey protein.

Whey proteins come from the liquid left over from the dairy cheese and yoghurt making process. This by-product goes through several processes to increase the concentration of its protein content and is then either dried to form whey concentrate or continues its processing to become whey isolate powder.

Whey concentrate powder normally contains 80% protein and whey isolate protein can contain 90% or more. Whey isolate also contains less lactose, fat, carbohydrates, therefore making it a purer protein product.

Some products, like this Optimum Nutrition protein powder, use a combination of both concentrate and isolate whey protein.

How do I use this protein powder?

This chocolate-flavoured protein shake makes a great breakfast smoothie, mid-day protein boost, or post-gym recovery drink. Simply add one rounded scoop of Chocolate Gold Standard Whey to a glass filled with 180 - 240ml water, before stirring (or shaking in a shaker cup) until dissolved. Add fresh or frozen fruits, peanut butter, coconut or other ingredients to your shake to make it even more delicious. Trying adding Gold Standard Whey to muffins, cookies, brownies for a protein boost!
