wow this is a great deal. best price for a slower cooker .better than any amazon at the mo as well
They were selling them last Dec for £9 and I bought one. Good price, but this one like many slow cookers you buy these days, don't cook slow. The old tower slow cookers back in the day, use to cook at a low heat, which meant you could have a pot of stew going for days, just dip in and out until finished. But all new slow cookers can be at boiling point when you wake up, even though you've selected low. The higher heat also means more likely for sauces etc sticking and burning on the side. It's not just Asda's slow cookers, it seems to be the new way, maybe new health and safety gone wrong again? It is a good price though and the bonus of buying an Asda make/model, is you get a 2 year warranty. I took my 1st one back 9 months later, as another modern feature that don't work, is that there is a ungalvanised screw inside the middle of the base. This again like other modern models, not just Asda's, goes rusty after a few uses, regardless of how much you dry it before use. Older models didn't have a screw in the base, so no rust and kept going for years. Must be to do with the moisture created when cooking? However, I took mine back due to the rust and I hoped mine was an overheater, which was replaced with a new one and a new receipt of £14, which gives me another 2 years warranty. Only highlighted the cons of the model, but hopefully you also see lots of positives, as in the 2 year warranty, which I feel is worth having. Just bear in mind they are not slow cookers, they are med to high cookers, lol. Still do the job and for many folk setting it to high is exactly what they want and need. £9 is a steel, at my local Asda the same stand at the front of the store showcasing the slow cookers, also had microwave on the bottom shelf for £35.00, wow. Top shelf was a box containing a charcoal grey kettle and toaster for £12(?). All really cheap to catch the uni students, so ideal time to buy.
