Reasonably priced hand sanitiser from Boots. Great if you're needing some and don't want to be exorbitant prices!
Sometimes 100ml of Superdrug own brand is available for £1.25 but for the sake of 30p I'd grab this now.
Seems to conform to WHO standards, according to the description (though please confirm this yourself)
For anyone in doubt about if this is above the minimum specification recommendations, according to Which? it is, but please look at the article for yourself. https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/04/hand-hygiene-soap-and-sanitiser-gel-what-you-need-to-know/
EDIT: Thanks to Deanne - Aldi may have some in stock, however please only pick these up if you are going to Aldi anyway, as there is no guarantee of stock!
EDIT2: Some places (specifically Sainsbury’s (thanks to monsterface)) may have 300ml of Carex for £3.49. This deal appears online for Boots and Superdrug as well, though both out of stock online, so maybe have a look for these whilst your in as they might be good for the car or a handbag, though, again, don’t specifically go out looking for them as they may not be there!
You can click and collect from one of 2,200 Boots stores for £1.50.
Standard delivery costs £3.50 or free when you spend £25 or more.
They do seem to becoming more plentiful which is great. The great thing about this one is that you can have it delivered which is good, so you don't have to leave the house. Great for all of us, but in particular those who are vulnerable or cocooning, who might be leaving the house soon, or need to go to the supermarket, but don't want to make another journey to Boots if they don't need to.
That's great for anyone doing their shop in Aldi. The main thing is so people don't have to do unnecessary trips to shops, so I will add this to description. Unfortunately for me the nearest Aldi is over an hour away!
Can you have a look at the label of that Aldi hand sanitiser, Deanne ? We had a conversation on here 2 months ago with someone and they suggested the Aldi one does not have the minimum 60% alcohol to kill the virus, I checked the one I got ages ago in Lidl, and the Lidl one was above (can't remember how much now).
Hopefully it stays this way - it looks like we'll all be needing this stuff for the foreseeable future, so let's hope it remains plentiful and cheap!
Free delivery is available over £30 so maybe add some other essentials, like hand soap, shower gel, shampoo etc. - stuff you're going to need over the next few weeks anyway. Obviously don't buy tons of one of these, but two or three of each of these should get you over the £30 mark and leave plenty for everyone else.
From description: This converts to 66% by volume (v/v) and is therefore above the minimum recommendation level of The Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organisation.
KelanOK thanks for the info, however I will be sticking with Carex which has a minimum of 70%.
KelanOK yes i was also trying to get to this point that it doesnt kill all bacteria only if you use like 1/10th of a bottel 10ml but thxs
HasanHunter it says in the description it conforms to WHO standards so I’m hoping that’s enough but to be honest with stock so limited anything you can get is better than nothing!
I find this a bit confusing (have just been calculating how much water to add to make the 99% ethanol a 70% alcohol mixture in small spray bottles and their explanation does not quite convince me.. However I suppose boots would have double checked?
This is a good price ive seen them double the price from other places thanks for sharing this
Wow thank You for sharing this deal i would buy this but i don’t understand bc if you use some it wont clean bacteria only of u use like half the bottle
I always remember these things being 99p or just over a pound... but now it seems the prices for most of these items have gone up in line with the demand for them which obviously one doesn't have a choice really. And having to use a lot of this liquid hand gel just for it to actually work the way it's supposed to just defeats the whole point of buying it.
I did happen to get some Superdrug own brand 100ml ones for 60p off a few months ago, however this is Boots so it tends to target the more upmarket in my experience. This particular brand also seems to sell around this price as well. Unfortunately we can’t dictate prices so it’s really the only option. Once supply becomes more consistent and plentiful, competition should hopefully bring the price back down again.
It may have only gone up by 20p or 30p but think about all the people in the UK who have now lost their jobs and income and everything else going up by 20p or 30p here and there... By the time you get to the checkouts your shopping is costing £30 more than a few weeks or months ago. No one or very few get increases in their wages or salaries to keep up with the rises in prices of things like this especially during this life-changing pandemic. I just find it so sad that many businesses are profiteering over and above the profits they're already making. Even if this is in the smallest of ways...it all adds up...
It doesn’t seem like Boots is profiteering, as this price seems consistent with what this brand has always sold at. Boots tends to be a more upmarket pharmacy in my experience so their products tend to target this demographic. I understand this isn’t ideal, and hopefully other shops start increasing supply to ensure that everyone can afford this, as it is an essential to ensure everyone’s safety.
It's not the worst price, it's 100ml, not the tiny 30ml bottles from lidl/Aldi, despite that it may look similar in a picture. I got a 30ml in lidl for 45p before this madness, that's 15p for 10ml, so £1.50 per 100ml, boots is not a cheap place, I shop there very rarely because of that, most often because there is something on offer that is more expensive elsewhere. So that's a 5p extra per bottle. KelanOK
I saw this as well - is a great deal if you are in Sainsbury’s. Boots also have this, as do Superdrug, but it’s really store dependent, as online has run out of stock. This is really great for handbags, as they tend to be a bit bigger, or in the car. Thanks for this - I’ll add to the description.
This is a fantastic find. Thank you so much for sharing the deal with us. I will visit instore tomorrow.
Thank you! This is an online deal, and due to the high demand for these, there might not be any in store tomorrow for your particular store.
Thanks for sharing, they seems to be back in store almost everywhere now, the cheapest ones are in Aldi, I managed to get one last week there
Thank you for sharing this running low on hand sanitizer. Will go to my local boot hopefully in stock there.
