The price is not mind blowing at all but I would spend more for a new one with a 5 year guarantee! There is a reason only a 2 year guarantee is offered. Actually I don't recommend refurbs at all. Save the headache.
I wouldn't. I'd get the refurbished one and get it repaired if it breaks after 2 years. It shouldn't break as it has been manufacturer refurbished. Basically it should be as good as new. But there you go, different consumers think differently about how to save money and the risks they are willing to take.
deepcore Quote: Refurbished Dyson machines are stripped, cleaned, rebuilt and tested by Dyson engineers to a nearly-new standard. Every refurbished machine bought from Dyson comes with a free Dyson guarantee that reflects the thoroughness of the refurbishment process.
Quite frankly given that the corded vacuums are refurbished using genuine Dyson parts and have a two year guarantee IMHO the refurbished ones are no more likely to break down within 5 years than the brand new ones with a 5 year guarantee. And if they do - get it repaired, or buy another up to date refurbished one.
But hey, you pays yer money and you takes your choice. It's a bit like choosing whether to buy a brand new car or a cheaper nearly new one from a branded dealer. And of course it depends on what you can afford to do at the time.
deepcore If a refurbished model was much cheaper than a new model and also carried a 5 year guarantee which would people buy? Is the answer is that (roughly) 20% or more would buy a refurbished my hunch is that that would probably not be a good business model for Dyson. There's a lot more profit in over-priced new.
I have a refurbished vacuum which is 3 years old now and is still working great without any problems. I would always choose the refurbished one, no doubt.
