A bit of common sense and hygiene should do the trick. A wipe with cold water and some anti-bacterial wipes for instance. More on this subject here:
VR pink eye isn’t something to be afraid of - The fears are overblown, and protecting yourself is easy

Johnny Something like the PSVR shouldn't be bought used for health reasons as I mentioned before and it's not necessarily a huge saving.
The RRP of the PSVR was £349.99 but it can be found for cheaper. So, a used PSVR goes for £289 while a new for £314.86 (Amazon) so it's actually a save of £25. Better to pay the extra for a new set.
The risk of catching an eye infection from a Tesco factory refurbished (and cleaned) PSVR is tiny.
Even tinier if you use anti-bacterial or alcohol wipes to sanitise it on arrival.
You are more likely to catch something from touching your shopping basket handle or shopping trolley in the supermarket, an escalator handrail, the petrol pump, a shop door handle…the equipment in the gym…unless you wear gloves all summer long!
This eye infection story started from VR headsets being worn by hundreds of people a day at gaming conventions. And has been debunked by doctors, as explained in the article above. And this one: https://vrscout.com/news/vr-hygiene-vr-headsets-herpes-eye-infections/
What health reasons, other than those already debunked, are you referring to?
“Hi, I’m the Tesco HazMat delivery guy.
I’ve got your refurbished PSVR in the van – can you come and get it please?
I don't want to touch it!”
When you say, quote “The RRP of the PSVR was £349.99…” you imply that the RRP is now lower. That's nonsense.
Firstly, the RRP originally set by SONY was not, and is not, £349.99, but actually £349 (I just double checked).
Secondly, the PSVR RRP IS STILL £349 TODAY, and SONY are unlikely to change the PSVR RRP any time soon.
Here’s SONY’s PRESS RELEASE from the October launch which states their Suggested Retail Price (i.e. their RRP), as being £349.
The discounted price of refurbished PSVRs at the Tesco eBay Outlet will vary from unit to unit as and when they become available, e.g. if the original box is scuffed or whether the unit has a minor cosmetic mark.
