Much-lauded Emirati poets Nujoom Alghanem, Ali Al Shaali and Maryam Mahyoh read their work in Arabic and English at the National Poetry Library.
Nujoom Alghanem is known for her free-verse writing style and is one of the most recognized female poets in the Arab world. She has published eight collections including Evening of Paradise, Sins, Journeyings, and I Fall into Myself. She is also a well-known scriptwriter and multi-award winning film director.
Ali Al Shaali has published two anthologies of poetry, A Bee and a Rababa and Faces and Weary Others. He is the founder and director of the publishing house Al Hudhud.
Maryam Mahyoh has won many awards and competitions for her poetry and represented her country at events such as the National Day Celebrations in 2015. Her poems have been published in several magazines. A specialist in Nabati poetry, Maryam has also collaborated with composers to put her verses to music.
