I had already included this in the post but have added more information to make it clearer now
Where does it say that you can cancel before they charge you the monthly fee?
I can only see that it says you can cancel after you pay for the first month.
It says repeatedly that you can cancel anytime, and that after the two weeks trial you will be charged £7.99 per month which can be cancelled anytime but I don’t see that you can’t cancel before then. If you want to be sure you could contact them.
lornaae I appreciate your help, but as I said in my question, I can't find where it says it's possible to cancel before you're charged.
"After 2 weeks, you will be charged a standard monthly subscription of £7.99 which can be cancelled at any time. "
This, if taken literally, means that you can "cancel anytime" only after being charged.
If that's the case then this isn't a free deal if you can't cancel it without paying.
EricsGoodDeals My understanding of the offer is that you can cancel anytime from signing up, not anytime after the two weeks. I can’t see anywhere that states you can’t cancel within that initial two weeks. I have used free trials with similar wording before and cancelled before any payment was needed. It’s not a deal I am personally interested in but perhaps a good suggestion for anyone interested but having the concern that you have expressed would be to email the company to double check.
lornaae You posted the deal, so why haven't you emailed them?
Don't you care if people get ripped off?
On this page you have asserted - without evidence - that people can cancel before being charged.
You really should not do that unless you know it for sure.
People are really struggling right now after losing jobs.
If someone loses money because they believe what you have written then that's on you.
EricsGoodDeals It states on the website "No contract, cancel anytime - There’s no obligation or contract, you can cancel at any point", which to me evidences that you are able to cancel anytime from signing up. I have added an advisory into the post expressing your concerns.
EricsGoodDeals I contacted them and this was their response: “Hi, yes absolutely, you can easily cancel at any time on your customer account on the Readly webpage. If you cancel with in your first 2 weeks, no payment will be taken. Best regards, Your Readly team“
I've had this a few times and it always allows you to cancel. In fact you can cancel early and they still allow access until the expiry date so you don't end up forgetting to cancel.
