Free type 2 diabetes screenings. In-store this week - Usually £10

If you think you may have developed type 2 diabetes, the test is for people aged 16 and over who may be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

What is type 2 diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is a condition characterised by what is known as insulin resistance.

This is where the body does not effectively respond to the insulin produced, as a result blood sugar levels become too high. It can be managed by taking tablets such as Metformin and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

PaulaG hi . Yes. You are correct. But you can't just go in have a test just because you want one. It's a good deal. Very useful for people to know what their condition is. In addition, getting a doctors appointment these days is a hellush task

Tortielove yes it's a good deal but if you suspect you may have diabetes( i.e showing symptoms) your GP surgery will give a test. It is hard to get an appointment in some areas sure but many conduct e consultations. As we all know Diabetes is a dangerous condition. G.Ps don't take it lightly. I do have problems with the likes of Lloyds muscling in on NHS

Metformin does not cure diabetes. It stops working after some time . Calorie deficit diet and exercise cure diabetes. Excess Visceral fat causes diabetes. Processed foods containing high glycemic index carbs and sugar solutions like fruit juice and smoothies also cause diabetes.

Metformin helps manage type 2 diabetes, there is no cure for type 1 diabetes

ClearDay thx for sharing this 😇 If people can pop into their local Pharmacy it will be very handy indeed. It is important to remember this in some cases comes on in later life and can be contributed to be poor diet and lifestyle. Metformin does *manage the condition and works well along side Glipizide too 🎀

Both myself and my sister had confirmed appointments for today in different parts of London. Both of us were turned away and told it was not available. In.my case , quite rudely. Walked 39 mins to keep my appointment. Anybody else have the same experience???
