A car check is great but just be aware that they sell car products, make sure they they don't advise things that aren't actually needed.

tumblespots Thanks for that tumblespots And while not a fan of 'big business' in general, my son bought a second-hand car recently and I rang around a lot of smaller garages (ideally would prefer to support smaller business' and hopefully find the bespoke repairer at a reasonable cost, so it's a 'win-win' situation for both) .. but after a considerable number of calls Halfords actually worked out best for time, work-effort, conscientiousness and length of guarantee of repair etc .. I was suitably and surprisingly impressed with quickness and end results and follow-up checks. I've told my son ( about this Winter-Check) and if he takes the car in, it should effectively become a 'double-check' as this work was done only a few months ago.. but with winter coming and a road trip planned for the end of Nov' .. it only seems like the sensible thing to do.. and possibly stock up on the anti-freeze?! A literally priceless opportunity to employ the 'safe not sorry' philosophy/motto .. and I wouldn't be toting Halfords, except for own surprisingly pleasant experience

luciawales It's all down to the people in the specific store and you have clearly found a great one. It's does restore your faith in human nature somewhat.
