Celebrate the musical legacy of iconic South African singer Miriam Makeba at a live concert with The Academy Big Band and vocalist Tutu Puoane.
Known as ‘Mama Africa’, Makeba rose to fame as a singer and actress in the 1950s, going on to become a civil rights campaigner. This concert commemorates the tenth anniversary of her death.
This project, created in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music, was first recorded with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and went on to win a South African Music Award for Best Traditional Jazz Album of 2011.
Presented by EFG London Jazz Festival.
