Aldi Tops List as Most Affordable Grocery Store for April

- Aldi declared cheapest supermarket by Which? for a basket of 79 items, beating other retailers
- Shoppers could save over £48 by switching from Waitrose to Aldi
- Continues 18-month streak as number one for value
According to the latest analysis by the consumer group Which?, Aldi has once again emerged as the most affordable grocery store. This month, a basket of 79 essential items at Aldi was £22.66 cheaper than Morrisons, £22.54 less than Sainsbury’s, and £16.64 less than Tesco.
The savvy shopper could slash spending by £48.24 by switching from Waitrose to Aldi, making it a superb choice for those keeping an eye on their budgets. Aldi has now maintained its title as the cheapest supermarket for 18 consecutive months, providing consistently low prices while ensuring quality.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said, "The Which? analysis once again reiterates our message that if shoppers want to save money on groceries, then Aldi is the only place to shop."
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "Aldi continues to lead the pack in providing shoppers with the best value, proving that you don't need to sacrifice quality to save money."

Pointless without knowing exactly what is compared. I seem to remember in the past that Which compared standard Tesco items rather than value items with Aldi which is utter nonsense and never factor in the convenience of a much wider range of goods available at Tesco which means you can get all you need in one shop that saves time and fuel. Which itself is a hugely expensive pamphlet of a magazine which is incredibly poor value so seems weird for something that is such incredibly poor value to judge the value of other services.
Aldi is my closest supermarket but when I go in there occasionally I only spend about 10-15 pounds as its all I get there. Some of it is excellent value but some of their products are below acceptable quality for me and of course other products don't even exist at Aldi. Also their fruit and veg is often a bit manky to say the least.
Looking at how much alcohol people buy in Aldi I'm guessing it can be very good value for those but I'm not a drinker myself and sometimes go months without drinking alcohol and when I do its just a bit of cider normally.
As ever I have very little regard for Which and don't view their research or opinions as useful at all.
